Counseling Degree insights
#1
I have a Master's Degree in Human services counseling. It's a 30 credit degree program, I have another 20 graduate level credits though in other various Counseling and Psychology courses. My home state of Utah recently changed their requirements from Cacrep only degrees to Degrees or Programs accredited under CHEA that are in Mental Health Counseling or a similar Field. I'm wanting to potentially pursue Associate License status, but looks like I would need a handful of more credits because it's a 60 credit minimum (not sure if they'll be picky about it being a 60 credit program or maybe since I already have a Master's degree in a counseling field they might let me just get the other needful credit subjects and intern hours seperate, I'll have to check with the state). Regardless, does anyone know of a super cheap Counseling program or degree that's preferably self paced? I know DEAC programs and other Nationally accredited programs are not as expensive usually. Any insights would be helpful thanks ?

In addition to the counseling and MFT programs from Kairos, there are competency-based master's in psychology from Capella, Walden, and Phoenix. Phoenix is likely to become an affiliate of the University of Idaho and might change its name circa 2024. Capella has a competency-based Doctor of Human Services. California Southern University has a semester-based but fairly affordable master's and doctorate in psychology. Amberton University and Fort Hays State University have semester-based but fairly affordable related master's programs.

@RoyalSpade, I second Kairos, and you want to review a few posts in regards to Kairos on this board. Do a search and see what other possible programs were talked about in previous posts/threads. There are some programs that are interesting to say the least, it may suit your needs...
