DSST Math for Liberal Arts vs. CLEP College Mathematics questions
#1
Has anyone taken the DSST Math for Liberal Arts?

What materials did you use for study?

Do you think the DSST Math for Liberal Arts would be considered a duplicate of CLEP College Mathematics?

When I wrote the blog post I also made a chart comparing the two exams (attached). It was more for my reference, so I don't guarantee it is 100% accurate. However, it will give you an idea regarding where the tests overlap and which content is unique to each test.

Thank you cookderosa & Murdockb

Looking at the comparison it seems that if a student is scoring well on the CLEP College Algebra and CLEP College Mathematics practice tests then it seems they should do fine on the DSST Math for Liberal Arts. Would you think study for those two exams would be sufficient for the DSST as well?

It would seem so. But you might also want to quickly study some of the items that are only on the Liberal Arts test (in black in the left column in the comparison table) like truth tables, Euler circles, installment buying, etc.  They are pretty easy concepts and shouldn’t take long to learn.

I took them both cold on the same day. I do think that the prep for the college math CLEP would be good enough for the DSST. If I remember correctly, the DSST was just a little bit harder for me than the CLEP.
