Yes.

Yes, but I think they won't give college credit for it when you only had a free trial (if you don't let it convert to a full membership).

I would go the cheapest route and get almost done with the courses you need, then splurge on the "college credit month" to finish it off.
For example, $24.95/month do a month of that and get X courses almost complete, spend $87.95 on the final month taking the college credit.
Some people have completed 30+ credits in a month, I have only done 3 courses and that was when they grandfathered me in the "old" plan.

I completed one of the History courses on the free trial and they approved it to ACE before I signed up for the month. I stayed up all night doing the course, but I absolutely hated Shmoop.

I finished Bible as Lit in just a couple of hours on the trial. They approved it on ACE. I eventually added a monthly membership and hated it so much I cancelled early, only finishing just a couple other courses total.
