Because of a fairly recent change in policy, I am about to graduate from TESC without a GPA. I thought that some EC grads could help me figure what my GPA would have been had I chose EC.
Here are a few CLEP exams with scores that I took. I would like to know what the EC grade would have been for them.
English Comp 63
Humanities 64
College Mathematics 60
Social Sciences & History 65
Thanks for your help!

Yes, I know. That's why I'm asking past EC students who were students when CLEPs has a letter grade.

I believe that all of those scores would have been A's under the "old" CLEP-grading system at EC, but I cannot tell you for sure. I think anything above a 60 was an A...

Great!
Can anyone confirm that anything 60 and over on a CLEP would have been an A at Excelsior?

Well, let me start by saying that I cannot fathom what value this information may have to anyone, but I can tell you, in the very least, that the above statement is not true because 1) it does not identify a time period, and I believe that it is likely that the cut scores for each grade were adjusted from time to time and; 2) you had to score over 60 to achieve an "A" on several of the exams graded as of 2006 in this link

Can someone tell me if Charter provide GPA from credit by exams?
From this thread I gather that Excelsior and TESC no longer provide GPA for credits from exams? Is this true?

I can't speak for COSC, but Excelsior still provides letter grades for all DSST exams that are still under the old scoring system. The newer versions are pass/fail, and all the CLEPs are pass/fail. EC does provide letter grades for their own exams, as well.
I'm pretty sure TESC gives all exams just pass/fail, including their TECEPs. If you want a GPA from them you have to take one of their classes.

Thanks Alissa. If have all CLEPs and new DSSTs and then just taken one course with a GPA of 3.5 does that mean my GPA is 3.5? Can't be that simple, right? I don't quite understand how this works.

Jonasling,
Pretty much all colleges are that way. There are exceptions, especially among schools that accept blocks of credit- but to turn it around, if you took a class at one of the big 3, earned and A, and then transferred it back to AnyName State University, it would be "T" or "CR" as well. The AnyName State University would likely only award GPA to the credits earned while a student with them. The reason people get jazzed, is because the big 3 don't have residency requirements- meaning you "could" take 1 class, earn a A, and "graduate with a 4.0"
