ETAMU CBE Master Degrees
#1
I know there was mention on the forum of free graduate level courses at the end of 2024/ start of 2025 for ETAMU as a pilot program of sorts. While they are still waiting for approval here are the focuses for these Masters programs. No announced start date, although the original plan was for Fall of 2025.

MS in Organizational Leadership with an Emphasis in Corporate Training and Development
MS in Public Safety with an Emphasis in Disaster Preparedness
MeD in Instructional Design with an Emphasis in Artificial Intelligence.

I am assuming these will be voted on at the May 28-30 meeting of the TAMU system regents-

 https://www.tamus.edu/regents/schedule/

If you look at the minutes from previous meetings you will see approvals for multiple new programs.  I don't know how that sort of timeline fits with SACS however.

Dear Students,

We are reaching out to all of you who participated in our preview Competency-Based Education (CBE) graduate courses during the Spring 1 term.

First, thank you for your participation and enthusiasm for these innovative programs. Your engagement has been invaluable as we move forward with our three new programs:
  • M.S. in Public Safety
  • M.S. in Organizational Leadership
  • M.Ed. in Instructional Design

We are writing to provide you with an update on the status of these programs. Currently, we are awaiting final approvals to officially launch the full programs. Once these approvals are secured, we will open the program application process.

Our intended launch date for these programs is the Fall 1 term, though the exact timing will depend on when we receive the final approvals. We will keep you updated on our progress and reach out again as soon as the approvals are finalized and the program applications become available.  In the meantime, if you have other questions about starting a graduate program at East Texas A&M University, please feel free to contact the Graduate School directly.

Thank you for your patience and continued interest in our CBE graduate programs. We look forward to potentially welcoming you as graduate students in the near future.

Hmm, great stuff for those in Texas, and for those looking for alternative CBE options at the masters level, similar to UMPI or WGU...

I honestly cannot see myself using any of these degrees. This a great option for those that want or can get use out it.

I wonder if the MAOL at UMPI vs MSOL at ETAMU would have a huge difference in application for a Organizational Leadership degree at the graduate level (other than the differences in the courses and such). They seem to be a bit similar to me.

Yeah, same these are very niche to me too. The only one that I could see myself taking would be the Organizational Leadership one and it would only be if they roll it out this fall and the price is too cheap to pass up while waiting for the UMPI MSB - Business Intelligence to roll out.

Nice, This would be perfect for you then!

ETAMU hasn't really announced anything on it yet as they are still waiting for approval. But they have everything ready to go from what I understand, so that once they get approval they will quickly open enrollment for the Fall 2025 session... at least this is the goal. So hopefully there is an update in the next couple of months. No word on price yet either. But the bachelor's program is $1000 per 7 week term for in-state and $2000 per 7 week term for out-of-state.

While there's no way of knowing if this will be the final tuition rate, for the spring courses the tuition was the same as undergraduate: $1000 for in-state (covered by the scholarship) and $2000 for out of state.
