East Texas A&M - Plan
#11

You can try for one session, but keep that in mind most do finish in two.

I wish this had been available when I was earning my degree. Regionally, it has strong recognition in North Texas. I am a teacher and luckily was able to get on during COVID so it doesn't matter anymore, but for Texas residents looking I agree this is likely the strongest option.

You can plan for 3 sessions, but shoot for 2. It's great if you finish in two, but just in case something such as commitments or something in life happens, you're still on track and can finish in three. And if ever needed, that session #3...

darthweezy, Question: Do they have an associates degree already? Was it an AA, AAS, or AS degree? It doesn't have to be the BAAS Organizational Leadership option, there are other concentrations, ask the advising team which of the other options may fit her credits better. If she's just looking for a quick bachelors, switching to the BGS might even work for a degree. What's her end educational goal?

She has an Applied Exercise and Fitness AA. I believe she was interested in the Human Resources degree, but that was just Incase she wanted to do something outside of her current line of work. Currently, she has been an aide in a special education program at a public high school in Texas. Her immediate goal is to get her degree and then become a special education teacher in Texas which only requires a bachelor's degree in any subject to then get into an alt cert program.

I had it mixed up a bit on what she is trying to get her degree in.  It is the BGS not the Human Resources one, that is another one I'm trying to help.

All of the CBE degrees have the exact same requirements for general ed, etc. prior to starting the degree specific classes. They also offer an educator pathway that can be done once the degree is completed.

She should have received a degree audit that shows how the classes transferred in as. Providing what she still has left to complete would allow us to provide some alternative transfer options. No mater what she will still have to complete at minimum 10 courses if she has already taken Texas Government elsewhere.

Have you or here joined the facebook group? There are tons of resources and experiences there? The group is called Sophia to ETAMU. We have ones in there who have taken the ORGL, HR, Health Services, General Studies, & Public Administration.

FB group sounds like a great idea, I'll tell her to join.

She received an email telling her to start registering for classes and which ones to take, but no audit.

She has a degreeworks audit of her transfer credit, otherwise they wouldn't be able to provide her with class options.

To get to it she needs to log in to her myLeo account > Student resources > Student Information > Undergrad Degree Works.

This shows her progress, what classes she has satisfied, what still needs to be completed and what, if any classes she is enrolled at with ETAMU.

That helps, she found it. Of the classes still needed, it looks like Sophia and Study.com would be the two to use unless you guys have any suggestions? I also mentioned to her to try and see if she can find any required classes in the UL category.

It looks like these are what are still needed:

Core Curriculum still needed (21 hours)

Mathematics (3 hrs)
Take one: MATH 1314, 1324, 1325, 1332, 1342, 2312, or 2413.

Life & Physical Science (3 hrs)
You already have ENVS 1401 (Environmental Science). Take one additional science from the approved list (e.g., BIOL/CHEM/GEOL/ASTR/PHYS/ENVS option shown in your audit).

Creative Arts (3 hrs)
Take one: ART 1301/1303/1304, MUS 1308/1309/1310/1313/1315, PHO 1301, THE 1310, or ENG 432.

American History I (3 hrs)
HIST 1301 U.S. History to 1877.

Government – Texas (3 hrs)
PSCI 2306 Texas Government.
(PSCI 2305 U.S. Government is already satisfied.)

Component Area Option (CAO) (6 hrs)
Choose two from the approved list (your audit shows options like COMS 1315/1321, ECO 2301/2302, MUS 1310, PHIL 331/332/360/362, etc.).

Major: Bachelor of General Studies – Competency-Based (36 hours)

Required major courses (12 hrs total):

GSCB 301 – Pathways, Purpose, Exploration (3)
GSCB 402 – Innovative Design (3)
GSCB 404 – Innovative Leadership by Design (3)
GSCB 405 – Capstone (3)

Advanced electives (24 hrs total):

24 hours of advisor-approved 300/400-level courses.

Wow, she still has a lot left. If she plans on starting on Sept 2. That doesn't give her much time to get anything done. The facebook group will have the list of classes she can take at Sophia.
