Hello!
My sister and I are studying to take the English Comp. with Essay CLEP. We've been using REA's practice tests and writing timed essays on various different topics that we've just found on the internet (Such as - "Do Clothes Make The Man?" and "Should the legal voting age be lowered to 13" etc.)
Can anyone who has taken this test remember what kind of topics you were instructed to write essays about?
Thanks!

I am sorry, but no one should be passing along the specific topics they were given during their College Composition exam (or any other CLEP exam with an optional essay component). Anyone who has taken the computer-based exams expressed agreement to have CLEP cancel their score due to "misconduct" which includes "giving exam questions to anyone else or discussing exam content with others at any time."
You are doing a great job by practicing with various topics you have found on the internet! Good luck with your exam!

I couldn't agree more, the exam topics are not to be disclosed. As for study, make sure you are looking at updated material. The exam is no longer called English Comp with Essay, it changed to College Composition in 2010. The main difference is there are now two essays, see this link for details:
College Composition | CLEP
Just make sure you don't look at outdated material such as that found on free-clep-prep.com or elsewhere. These sites are great for other exams but not for this one. Make sure you pay attention to the differences between the essays and are ready for the question portion of the exam.
Good luck.
My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.

Not to worry. You wrote, "My sister and I..." Guess what? You can probably pass the writing exam. I took it last year (I think). For me, keeping within the time constraints was the hardest thing. Personally, I was surprised that I passed as I thought my essays were very rough. Just feel comfortable referencing sources within the body of your essay, keep within the time requirements, and you're golden. Good luck.
