In another thread today, someone (a TESC student, I think) said Excelsior counts CLEPs toward a student's GPA. As an EC student, I'm concerned -- is this accurate? My evaluation summaries do show me with a "major GPA" of 2.0, because all my major-related credits thus far have been CLEPs. But my "eval GPA" (which I think will be what gets reported in the end) has remained the same as what I began with (3.3), since I haven't taken any graded courses or tests yet.

OK, so I think that means CLEPs are included in the GPAs of students who took CLEPs before EC changed its policy of granting letter grades for them. In my case, I enrolled after the change, so I guess I won't have a bunch of "C" grades dragging me down. Thanks!

I needed to double-check this info this week also. Here it is:
mr.mikes1 Wrote:FYI...TESC does NOT count your CLEP/DSST test scores in your GPA, you just get credit for the class. I believe Excelsior does count these scores in your gpa.
NAP Wrote:For Excelsior, it is my understanding that currently all CLEPs are Pass/Fail and do not count towards the GPA. The DSSTs with the new 3 digit scoring are also Pass/Fail and do not count towards the GPA (for now at least), but the older DSSTs with the 2 digit scoring are graded and do count towards the GPA.
Can anyone confirm if this is true?
Thanks.

Note that some DSSTs are still being graded and do count toward the GPA.
