Hello Everyone,
New to the forums here and I am in process of getting a BSBA in Accounting from TESC. Is this the equivalent to a BS in Accounting? I believe it is and different schools just have it this way for different reasons but not 100% sure. Also if an employer is looking for someone with an Accounting degree I would assume the BSBA is fine? I contacted the school and they said the degree would just say Bachelors of Science in Business Administration however my transcript would say Accounting. Either way I'm confused and any help would be appreciated, thanks!

There is usually no substantial difference between a BSBA in accounting and a BS in accounting. The only place I have seen any real differences between a BS and BSBA is with small liberal arts colleges who often require fewer business or accounting courses for the degree. The curriculum for the BS in Accounting from Excelsior is pretty much identical to the BBA or BSBA in Accounting from many schools.
The TESC BSBA also has a traditional undergraduate accounting curriculum. However, unlike many schools, they do not require that you have a course in cost accounting, auditing and tax to graduate although I suspect that most of their majors take all of these courses as part of their 12 hours of electives.
