Fast and affordable Business Management or Computer Science degree.
#1
Your Location: Turkey
Your Age: 25.
What kind of degree do you want?: Business Management or Computer Science.
Current Regional Accredited Credits: None.
Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits: None.
Any certifications or military experience?: None.
Budget: 4k USD.
Commitments: I work full time but I can dedicate 30 hours a week for studies.
Dedicated time to study: 30 hours a week.
Timeline: Ideally as fast as possible, so under 1.5 year.
Tuition assistance/reimbursement: None.

Hey there everyone, I have been reading the forum for the past couple of weeks and it's time I finally start pursing a degree. Smile
A small note about my background, I have been working as a software developer for well over 4 years now, but not having a degree made getting interviews for better positions harder - almost impossible - nowadays.
Realistically I know the best option would be to get a CS degree, but I believe with only 4k it would be impossible, so I reckoned the next best course of action is a Business Management degree.

Thanks for your time.
Oz.

Welcome to the board, great initial post with the addendum and template! Interesting to say the least, I just created a thread for UMPI vs UoPeople and it would fit you just right! Those two institutions are the ones I recommend most since UoPeople achieved RA recently. You can do a double degree for the cost of $4K, instead of one degree... I would do the BSCS at UoPeople as it's your first choice, then you can do the BSBA at UoPeople and be my guinea pig to test my theory! Link: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...s-Time-etc

Thank you very much for the quick reply :)!
That's some good news actually, I wasn't aware that UoPeople achieved RA.
Given that it seems like UoPeople would be the best option here, two degrees for just $4k would be such a steal, but for just a business degree I believe UMPI would also be a good option?
And for computer science, with UoPeople's RA it would be the most affordable, then I believe TESU (which would at least cost $6k if I'm not mistaken), or are there any other options I'm not aware of like UoPeople?

UMPI is developing a BS in Computer Science in the same competency-based YourPace modality as their business degree. At most recent report it's expected to open to students in Fall 2025.

You're not allowed to do two bachelor's degrees at UoPeople. They only allow you to do multiple master's degrees. If you choose whatever associate's degree you have to do the same bachelor's degree. If you have a bachelor's degree from a different university you can only do one bachelor's degree at UoPeople.

Oh snap! Well then, that'll be 1 degree at each institution! Take your pick quickly! I updated the earlier link...

UMPI getting a YourPace CS degree seems quite interesting as well will be keeping an eye on it if I haven't already enrolled into UoPeople until then Smile

Actually I have another question, currently I don't have a school leaving qualification - dropped out before getting my high school certificate - Would that affect me by any chance?

You're going to have issues with both UofPeople and UMPI as the main requirement is a high school graduation before you get started with them. You need to decide your pathway to your educational goal.

Moreover, If you have the cash to get this done, here's an alternative option I recommended this person... Link: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...-best-path

You can enroll UoPeople without HS certificate, there are at least two ways to replace it, one I believe certain number of credits gained elsewhere, second a test (Ability to Benefit test?). More info can likely be found in UoPeople catalog.

Here's a snippet from https://catalog.uopeople.edu/ug_term1_it...on-process

"While studying in UoPeople Foundations, students wishing to be admitted for study towards the degree submit proof of high school completion (see below). At their discretion, they may also submit official transcripts of any college work that they may have done.

Submission of Official Documents
Demonstrating High School Completion (or Equivalent)
Applicants must submit a high school diploma or its functional equivalent. This requirement may be satisfied during your first term at UoPeople through the submission of:

An official diploma (or transcript showing graduation) sent directly to UoPeople (either mailed or submitted online); or
A color scan/photocopy of the original diploma (or transcript showing graduation)
A black and white scan/photocopy of the original diploma (or transcript showing graduation) certified by a notary sent directly to UoPeople (either mailed or submitted online).

Applicants unable to provide either of the documents listed above may be eligible to take an Ability to Benefit (ATB) Test during his or her Foundations studies. Individuals who receive a passing score, of at least 200 on the Verbal Skills section of the test, and at least 210 on the Quantitative Skills section of the test, may become degree students upon completion of all admissions requirements.

Applicants unclear about what qualifies as an official copy of their diploma and/or transcript are asked to email the Office of Admissions at admissions@uopeople.edu regarding the English programs and admissions@ar.uopeople.edu regarding the Arabic programs.

Applicants may also review a list of official functional equivalents that the Office of Admissions may accept for admissions considerations as proof of high school completion at https://uopeople.edu/files/admission_qua...ountry.pdf.

English program applicants: Diplomas and transcripts must be submitted in English. Diplomas and transcripts that are not in English must be submitted together with an official notarized translation.

Arabic programs applicants: Diplomas and transcripts may be submitted in either English or Arabic. Diplomas and transcripts in any other language must be submitted with an official notarized translation in either English or Arabic.

In certain cases, the Office of Admissions may require applicants to present additional documentation.

All documents submitted for admissions consideration must be received by the Office of Admissions at UoPeople by Week 6 of the term prior to beginning studies as a Degree Student as specified in the Admissions Calendar shown below. Documents submitted become the property of University of the People and will not be returned to applicants."
