Fielding Graduate University Merges with Excelsior

This is the weirdest, most unexpected merger.

Interesting. They're both distance learning pioneers, but otherwise I'm not sure I see why Excelsior would want to absorb Fielding (which is what seems to really be happening here).

The only thing I can figure is that Excelsior is ready to start offering doctorates. Fielding already has APA-accredited programs.

Institutionally, Excelsior's is the one that matters since they're the ones acquiring Fielding. But preserving the APA accreditation of Fielding's doctorate in clinical psychology is the real key here.

To be fair, this time it's the Fielding people who have something new to remember. You University of the State of New York folks can keep the current name for a change!

I have told this once in the past. I once went to a job interview and the interviewer said my degree was not real as he had graduated from Regents College and knew of no school called Excelsior College in New York. He was not happy with what I told  him next.
