Forgive me if this has been addressed already a hundred times but I couldn't find much about it when I searched. I have some old credits that are less than stellar. A couple of Cs - you get the picture. As a result, my GPA is not what I'd like it to be.
If I enroll at EC they assign letter grades to certain CLEP/Dantes exams, right? Whereas TESC does not. So, if I want to bring up my GPA should I go with EC and just ace (which I am planning to do - by the way - haha) all the exams I take?
Or is a better route to take just, don't transfer in the "crappy" grades and forgo those credits, and CLEP out of those subjects even if I only get graded on a Pass/Fail?
Has anyone dealt with this issue successfully - and if so, how'd ya do it?
Many thanks,
Kelly:confused:

Kelly, Depending on how much you have and what you need, you might consider either way. Unlike the good old days once something hits your transcripts you are stuck with it unless you take a replacement. Obviously CLEP is only a P/F but DSST can help you along your way. I guess if I were to do it all over I'd ditch the electives (applied professional) that are not up to par as they are easy to make up. You can bump your bad grades only with replacement tests.
Good luck in all of this.

Actually Runner you could declare academic bankruptcy but in doing so you wipe all the grades from that specific school. You can't pick and choose the ones you want unfortunately. It is an option but only if your grades were really bad and you wanted to start fresh at that particular school.

Thanks for the replies, guys.
So, if for instance, one of my "less than stellar" grades was in Intro to Sociology - could I dump it and replace it with a passing CLEP in the same subject? At least that way, I could slightly raise GPA by getting rid of a lousy grade even though the CLEP would only be graded as a pass/fail. If I could do that with 4 classes, my GPA issues would be gone.
And, I do think that the credits I would need to "swap out" are all easily replaceable within the CLEP/Dantes testing realm.
Is that "doable"? In that instance, is it advisable to go with EC to get actual letter grades for tests (where EC grants letter grades of course) instead of just a pass/fail credit? Sorry, if I'm not making sense here - hey, maybe that's why I scored that F in English. Just kidding - English classes are where all my A's are (if you can believe that from this diatribe!)
Thanks again.

I am nearly certain that you can do this - just confirm with your advisor.
