LaceyLady Wrote:The proctor and I have been going back and forth with DSST for several weeks. DSST claimed several times that there was no record of the exam and that I was not charged for the exam, even though the credit card was indeed charged for the exam. I, off course, replied that I was charged for the exam. Then DSST told me that I had to fill out a refund request, which I did. DSST replied to my refund request stating again that they could not find a record of the exam and asking for more information, which I provided. DSST then replied that they would look into the matter, and have not gotten back to me since.
Weeks had gone by and I needed to get this exam out of my way, so I decided to try to take the exam again (since DSST claimed they had no record of the failed attempt anyway and DSST was not getting back to me). I took the exam without any problems and passed with a score of 73.
Today I received a letter from DSST stating that the score for the exam that I took successfully has been cancelled because the exam was taken within 3 months of the previous one, and that they have sent an invalid score report to my college. Seriously! They have no record of the exam when it comes to giving me a refund, but they have record of it when it comes to cancelling my score!
I am not happy about this at all. I have had to pay for the exam twice and they are not accepting my score or giving me a refund when the reason I couldn't take the exam the first time was their own system error and not my fault.
This is the last DSST exam that I need to take, but it is giving me more trouble than all the others.
Sorry for the rant.
We need to remember that computers get glitches. It sounds as if the second exam pushed through the first. It should now be easy for them to resend a transcript with the results from the first exam as well as credit you for the cost of the second. From my view it looks as if by taking the exam again you actually rectified the initial problem.
I do agree you need to speak with someone who has full access to all test scores. You may also have two accounts, I vaguely recall someone talking about this before. You might ask that they look you up by SS#?
Good luck and congratulations on your second pass!

Thank you all for the advice and the kind words.
The situation has now been resolved!
A fellow member, BGSU Alum 86, saw my post, contacted an individual at DSST (Michelle), explained the situation, and asked her to look into it. She researched the situation and found that the first exam showed up on one system, but did not show up on another, which was why the people I contacted at DSST could not find record of the exam, but the exam was in the system for the invalid score report. She also found the information and error report that the proctor had sent them and the emails back and forth. She then cleared up the situation with the scores, sent a corrected score report and letter explaining the situation to TESC, refunded the fee for the second exam (the refund for the first exam did go through), and gave me a voucher for a free exam! She was very gracious and apologetic for what had happened.
I am very glad and relieved that this is finally resolved and thankful to BGSU Alum 86 and Michelle at DSST. I am very happy with the outcome.
Now I just might take another DSST for free and have more extra credits that don't fit into my degree! milelol:
