I've read practically ever post I can find on US History I...but I just don't know how to tell if I'm ready...My test is scheduled next Monday.
I have gone over the flashcards, taken notes, and watched videos from Hippocampus, taken quizzes from an AP History site...Does this sound like enough?? I'm still working on some Peterson's tests - but everyone said they are harder than the actual clep.
If anyone out there can give me some pointers, I'd GREATLY appreciate it!

Although I haven't used these specific materials, it sounds like you're pretty well prepared. As long as you have a pretty good timeline in your head of all the major events, and know the social and political climate of all the major periods (i.e. colonial, revolutionary, pre-civil war, etc.) then you should be good to go. Also, a passing score on a Peterson's or REA test is a good indicator of success with the actual test. Go for it, I'm sure you'll do great! Let us know how you score!

Thanks

Studenttoday,
The study materials I used were the REA CLEP History of the United States I, and The History of the United States DVD series from the Teaching Company. Both of these materials were great, and worked well together, although I probably would have been able to pass using just one or the other. I also browsed through a few U.S. history textbooks the day before, focusing on more of the social issues, and this turned out to be very helpful, as much of the test is focused on this subject.
Regarding that study guide, I'm actually not the one who put it together. It was craftkc10. I too sent a pm requesting this, and I'm sure craftkc10 will get back with us soon. However, as I said, if you've done your due diligence studying, and it sounds like you have, then you should do great!

DO I have to buy the REA or can I take the practice tests for free?

Yes, you have to buy the REA book, unless you can find it at your library.

Also get your hands on an Official CLEP Study Guide. It has a list of topics and sample questions for each exam. That is what I use to make sure I am learning the correct material. I also use the sample questions as a mini-practice test to be sure I am ready.
This was my first exam, too. Let us know how it goes.

I would definitely recommend the Official CLEP Study Guide--it is put out by the same people who write the CLEPs, so it would give you the best idea of whether you are ready or not.
You can use this link CLEPÂ History of the United States I Exam Guide to take the test. (You do have to pay a little, but it's worth it if it can tell you whether you are ready or not).
Generally, I tried for over 60% on that exam, just to make sure I had some room for change.
