Code for CLEP & DSST?
#1
Is there a code to use on the CLEP & DSST forms to have the test results sent to CLEP & DSST instead of a college if you are taking all or most of your exams but will enroll in an college like TESC closer to completing the degree? Also, am I correct in thinking we are able to request just the exams we want released sent to the college?

You won't need a code if you don't want scores sent to a college - just don't specify a college code when taking the test.
DANTES: when you take your first test (I am only referring to online tests - I dunno about pen/paper), you will establish a username and password. At any time, from anywhere, you will be able to log in to see all of your test results, dates, etc. Yes, you can pick and choose which ones to send to your choice of college later - It's $20 per test transcript DESTINATION (meaning $20 to send results of as many tests as you request in one shot).
CLEP: similar but you wont have online access to look at the info yourself, but yes, you can specify which test results to and not to send.

Hope this helps!

I'm the king of procrastination. I first submitted my app to TESC in 1993. THIS will be the year of my degree completion![/COLOR]

CLEP-Information Systems & Computer Applications: Scored 62; Nov 07
CLEP-Analyzing & Interpreting Literature: Scored 57; Feb 08
DANTES-Criminal Justice: Scored 54; Jan 08
DANTES-Fundamentals of College Algebra: Scored 47 (and 47 is the req'd pass score! ); Jan 08
DANTES-Drug & Alcohol Abuse: Scored 57; Feb 08
DANTES-Ethics in America: Scored 55; Feb 08
DANTES-Organizational Behavior: Score 54; Mar 08

When you pay for the test, part of your fee includes sending the score to one college. The test administration folks also keep a copy of your score so they can make it into a transcript, and you of course get your own copy.l

If you are thinking about a particular school, go ahead and send the scores there, since they're free at the time you take the exam. Otherwise when you are ready you'll have to pay for a transcript later.

(This was actually discussed just this morning at the test center I was at.)

Good luck!

you can also just pay $20 one time and have only all the tests you want sent to the school of your choice. Take as many tests as you want, decide which ones you want sent and which you don't, then call CLEP and they will send the ones requested out

Question, How does one calculate a scaled score from a raw score. I took a Princeton Clep review on Humanities with 140 questions, anwering 70 correctly... is this passing (ACE 50)? Is there a rule of thumb for scaling?

In a word, no. Scaled scores are based on the mean and distribution of the scores of students who took the exam during its development period. Typically, they try to keep the scaled score of 50 close to a raw 50%, but you certainly can't rely on that for any particular exam. In practice, that basically means that you need a little more buffer to be safe. I would recommend that you raise that Princeton Review raw score to at least 70% before taking the real exam. That's kind of difficult to do for Humanities, as it's probably the most "Trivial Pursuit" of all the CLEP exams. Try to identify the areas where you are weakest, and shore those areas up with Wikipedia and other web research, and browse through some library books.
