How long does WVNCC take to do an eval?

videogamesrock Wrote:My friend applied 2 months ago. Heard nothing left vm and email. Zero response.

Ouch! 2 months eh? Wow!

TrailRunr Wrote:Maybe another guinea pig should try Pierpont to see if they're faster.

I guess everyone should look at the other Community Colleges there - 9 in total including WVNCC and Pierpont.

JamesIE Wrote:I got my admission letter from Pierpont yesterday. They've already received my ACE transcript and should have an old CC transcript and CLEP transcript by now too. I sent a email today asking what / when I should hear and what the process is like.

I'll report when I know more.

How long did it take for the evaluation? Do you happen to know the fees for everything?

Wow, that is a very long process with little communication from the school. I finally completed the customized plan that KayV did for me (Thanks a lot KayV) and applied and sent my transcripts yesterday. I did not realize the process would be that long.

True...maybe I will apply at some other ones too and go with the best route.

I searched BOG and I think I saw some in illinois and florida also.

Well, I'm 7 weeks in, and still waiting! At this point, I am just doing this as an exercise, to see what happens. It's always good to have an idea of how long the process takes.

They have evaluated 3 out of 4 of my transcripts (GGU, MC & Palomar), and I'm still waiting for the SJSU transcript to be completed. I'm wondering if they ever received it (looks like my others were done on 4/3). Kind of strange that SJSU was sent out at the same time as the others, but it's not there.

But, at least my eval is populated now (which is how I realized I didn't get my SJSU transcript evaluated, since it shows that I'm missing history which I took there).

I also realized I'm going to have to send my TESU transcript to get my English II TECEP score to come in, as well as Computer Apps & Liberal Arts Math if it's accepted.

I also had to send my ACE transcript to get my ALEKS math over to them. They did not accept my MC Finite Math course as fulfilling a math requirement, so I'm not sure what the deal is there. At my college, it was the precursor to Stats, but it definitely was not a developmental course or anything.

Now my only question (after they receive and evaluate) is: will they take Intermediate Algebra and/or Liberal Arts Math, and if not, then I have to finish Stats and send it to them as well as TESU. I have to do it anyway, so it's not a big deal, but it would be nice if I didn't have to do that.

I did not send my CLEP or DSST scores to them, since I didn't want to spend any more money, and those don't have anything that applies to the degree that I can't get there more cheaply.

I also don't want to spend the money to apply to any of the other BOG schools, it's too expensive (although simple) to do without actually needing the degree for some purpose. I imagine that if you needed a degree ASAP, then you might spend the money to try for several of them.

I guess I'm the outlier. I sent an ACE transcript one evening - they opened it the next morning. Within a week, it had all been populated (in kind of a fits & starts manner, not all at once, like perhaps one person was checking a stack of transcripts for reading/literacy requirements, the next day doing a stack for math, etc.). The university transcript was added within a day or two of arrival as well. I noticed that tech writing had been included in electives, so I emailed my advisor asking if it met the English requirement - the next day it was moved up to that slot & the degree was complete.

I'm sure this is a busy time of year for them, with grads needing transcripts sent to transfer schools, and trying to audit the graduating class files. (Commencement is 12MAY.) Definitely check with your advisor if things are dragging.

ETA - @humbleAMG...My college algebra was put in the general electives section, but I'm pretty sure it would have filled the math requirement because on the degree audit page, they have a "testing" section (probably for students attending the brick & mortar, placement tests?) - one requirement is "basic math" and one is "elementary algebra". So just guessing, but I can't see why College Algebra wouldn't meet or exceed their requirement? Before I sent transcripts, I sent screenshots to my advisor just for a rough estimate of what might be missing. If you've been accepted, but haven't received the welcome letters, you can find your advisor in your student account.

Same for me. I was tempted to try Pierpont, but since applying at WVNCC I am much closer to a BS at TESU, so it's not worth it for me.

I am about to send my ACE transcripts to WVNCC, however on the ACE page it offers two options, Paper or Electronic. Did you send yours electronically and what email address did you use? Margaret DeCola. mdecola@wvncc.edu? Thank you. I rather not pay twice to send.

I don't think I did electronic for anything, because I didn't have an email address to send it to. Surprisingly, ACE was by far the fastest for them to put in the eval (at least, to show as received). Nothing went into the eval yet, or else they don't accept ALEKS because none of my math courses went in there.
