dfrecore Wrote:All I'm asking for is SOME kind of communication! Wanting to know whether or not I'm going to graduate isn't too much to ask, I don't think.
And, as I stated, I'm guinea pigging this whole thing, so that for anyone who might desperately need a degree at some point in the future, at least they'll know what to expect. If you're in full panic mode because your company has just informed you that you must have a degree within a certain timeframe or you're going to lose your job, this could be a viable option for many, and knowing that there's no communication along the way, and you're told after graduation that "oh yeah, by the way, you graduated last Thursday" is something someone might need to know.
I think, under those circumstances, frequent phone contact is the *only* realistic way to approach that problem. WVNCC confer very frequently through the spring & summer, and take applications closer to the conferral which is helpful for rushed graduation. So I think, depending on when a person discovers their "desperate need", WVNCC is the better option. Also, if a person needs something that desperately, I think they'll be motivated to stay on it until they have answers one way or another. I'd also suggest, to that person, to apply simultaneously for multiple BOGs and see who gets it done first.

Applied simultaneously......months ago. Still haven't filled my account up with my credits.
We are all on the same side here, trying to better our lives....so let's get along and help each other out.

I would like to say it has been a smooth process; it wasn't, with their communication being the number #1 hurdle. Being patient as I understand I am out no money other than the fee to transfer my ACE credits to them, I was finally informed my diploma is in the mail. Of course I am one of those have-to-see-it type of guys, but at least something positive to post for others. I will post details of my experience shortly.

Just an update: I'm officially a THUNDERING CHICKEN!!!
I received my diploma in the mail today, and apparently I graduated back on May 12th. Awesome.
It's kind of strange, because as of June 13, I was still trying to see if there were any additional requirements I needed to meet, and had asked the program director for a waiver of the residency requirement. She said she'd get back to me...
I also did not send in my graduation application until April 25th, which was after the deadline for the May 12th graduation, so that's weird.
Anyway, it's here. There is no mention of my Area of Emphasis, which I requested. But I can live with that.
----------------------------------------------------------
So for anyone who needs an AAS degree quickly, and you have the necessary credits to complete the requirements, I would recommend it. But be prepared for zero communication from the school, as well as an amount of uncertainty that I'm not used to.

Schedule of events, for others to gauge timelines:
Sent in ACE transcripts electronically: 5/11/17, viewed 5/15/17, audited 6/14/17. After some going back and forth with my counselor on my classes, she found what she was looking for on the ACE transcripts, told me the diploma was in the mail earlier this week, showed up today. Total cost was $15.00, to send my transcripts. They are very busy, so a lot of patience is needed. Overall, very pleased.
