What’s with the Univ of ___ University College names?
#1
First, we had University of Maryland University College, which I think someone on here said they might be changing? Tonight I saw an ad for University of Denver University College. These redundant names seem dumb for schools. Is there some significance to the repetitiveness?

Quote:The "University of Maryland" portion signifies that we are part of the University System of Maryland. We're proud to be part of one of the finest systems in the world. "University College" is a British term that captures what we do: Take courses and programs from all academic departments and offer them outside of the university's walls and normal class times.

"University College" usually means it is a degree completion program for adults who take courses from lots of different colleges (college of business, liberal arts, etc.)

Thanks, looks like it's changing to University of Maryland Global Campus very soon (July 1st)!

Sounds way better with the new name!
