Nothing in this article really tells one how to get last minute financial aid. Filling out the FAFSA needs to be done in advance. Filing for scholarships again has to be done in advance and meet the deadlines. Saving money in a 529 plan isn't something parents start on April 1st and have tens of thousands to pay tuition in June. Those plans are designed to be utilized over a child's lifetime.

The FAFSA is more last-minute than a 529 plan, but yeah. Not really last-minute.
