I guess i'm just another old dog that needs to learn a few new tricks. I am considering signing on to the Bachelor of Science in Technology with area of focus in Electromechanical Technologies program offered at Excelsior:
Excelsior College | Program Details
I think I may have a good shot at "testing out" of a lot of the program, and at least like the idea of trying to do so. At this point in my game, going back to a traditional 4 year university to persue a degree is out of the question.
My ultimate goal would be to use this degree to boost my career a little bit. I went to a Trade School for Automotive/Diesel Technology, and that was fine for a while. I have all my ASE Master Certs and about 10 years of work experience. I have found myself working in a Diesel Engine R&D lab for the past 5 years working with pretty advanced equipment and technology. The work I do is engineer level work, but the company is unwilling to make exceptions to their "need a degree" policy for test engineer positions.
My only fear is whether or not the addition of this degree to my resume will amount to a hill of beans here or anywhere else... but at least it shows that I'm trying.
Anyone have experience with this school, or this particular program?
