Does anyone know if Excelsior (i.e. Liberal Arts degree program) accepts both Intro to Computing and Information System & Computer Applications as individual classes/credits or do they see them as overlap / same class?

In 2010, I was allowed to take those two exams plus MIS DSST for credit. I am not aware of a policy change.

Had both applied, here. It does depend on when you are enrolled/student policy date so double-check the credit guide available at the time of your own application.

I was told a few months ago that they duplicate each other. I opted to take the DSST instead of the CLEP.

Yes, they are duplicate credit at TESC. (By the way, having studied for and taken both exams, I don't think they should be considered the same. The content of the exams was different.)
Or are you saying an advisor at Excelsior told you this recently?

Really? That's not good news. I disagree with that change. Thanks for the update.

Yes, I was told by an adviser during one of my advisement meetings.

I was just informed that the change in the content of the CLEP test in 2010 is the reason that this policy was changed. I am not sure when the cut-off date is for getting credit for both â 2010 or 2011. If you took the CLEP exam during those 2 years, ask your advisor if you can appeal the duplication decision. There may be a scenario that would allow you to keep the credits, if they look into this further for you.
My sincere apologies to everyone I recently encouraged to take both of these exams for EC.
