Introduction To Computing DSST
#11
I use computer everyday and I opened a few of the IC cards to see if this is a test that maybe I should attempt and it just seemed a bit much??? Now I see a lot of people say that it was easy? Any recent test takers feedback? I am going to check the specific forum feedback but some of those posts a kind of old...Thanks for any handy advise...I really gotta pass!!

If I do start this one how much study time would I need?

I am so sorry. I thought I had already sent it to you. I just got it out now. After this thread opened, I got quite a few requests for it and I think I must have gotten messed up and neglected to send it to you. It should be there now. Please let me know that it arrived safely. And let me know if I can help at all.

Best of luck to you!

Just took this one a month or so ago. IC is perfect for this test. Also, use the information on the exam feedback section. You will do fineSmile

jadechow Wrote:Hi,
I agree with Autumn. I just took this test last Friday and passed - no problem. I only used IC. In fact I checked out a ton of books from the library and never touched a one of them (except to return them this morning). But seriously, IC is spot on for this exam. This is the only time I haven't used another source to study and that's only because I ran out of time. I was studying for Astronomy at the same time and really gave that all of my attention. I only decided to take Intro to Computing at the last minute (a couple of days before).

Oh, I should mention that I am about the LEAST computer literate person you may ever care to meet. Ask my ex-husband. He'll regale you with countless stories of how I can't burn dvds, don't know what an expansion port is, and always seem to have the craziest computer-related issues of anyone ever, etc.

So if I can do it - anyone can. And I do mean anyone. The single best source of info for me was the feedback forum. I took all of the suggestions there and put them in a word file. Not a pretty word file because that would have required a level of word processing expertise that I am not capable of (see paragraph 2 above). But it got the job done. If you want, send me a PM and I'll forward it to you.

Good luck and best wishes,
Kelly

Hi Kelly I'm new to the site and I'm wondering is the test mutiple choice or do you have to memorize answers when you study the flashcards in IC?

Thanks

Hi David, This test is multiple choice. I think multiple choice is the easiest type of test because the correct answer is there - right in front of you - you just have to "recognize" it.

The only tricky thing to be careful about is when two answers seem similar. That's why it's best to carefully read all answers even when you think you immediately recognize the right answer. Dantes tests in particular are somewhat notorious for having two answers that seem "almost" correct.

Good luck with it,
Kelly

I am really nervous about this exam, because the questions from the flash card are extremly tough!!!! Is the exam multiple choice or fill in the blank?
