So I took my first final. After I passed it says that the recording must upload and once done will refresh.
So I told my wife that it needed to upload, it’ll take a while, and so I left the laptop on the kitchen counter and took a shower. She of course immediately shut the laptop screen and moved it back into the bedroom. When I started it again the study.com app was frozen; probably due to having the laptop closed. Do I have to retake this exam?

That window would be stuck there FOREVER! You still need to manually turn it off, the question you need to answer is, did you leave it on for at least a good 5-8 minutes for it to upload? If you just left right away, it would not have uploaded fast enough. It does not need to be 15 minutes as it recommends that time. I've left it on for a few hours and it doesn't disappear at all...

Odds are you'll be fine; especially if you're running on a high speed internet connection at your house.

I exit after a minute or two. Nothing bad has happened yet so I'll continue doing that I guess. 15 minutes is too long for me.

Thanks, everyone. I went ahead and submitted it to ACE. I guess I will wait and see if it uploaded properly.

The time it takes to upload is dependent on your available upload bandwidth. The 15-minute warning is really just there for worst-case. That said, even though I'm on a gigabit connection, I usually wait the full time just to be safe. And yes, the message does not go away. In fact, it specifically says it will not refresh, so you may have misread it. So it's up to you to time it and determine when to hit the close/exit button in the app.
Either way, if the upload didn't compete you should be contacted by Study.com. In that case, if you haven't taken an additional proctored exam since the last time, the video cache may still on your machine and the RPnow support folk can try to manually trigger the upload. If not, you will probably be required to take the exam again.

Great news. My course posted ... phew. Scoring a 60-80 on every first attempt on Intermediate Acct 1. Of those where I score a 60 I’m going back to watch the videos and the 80’s I’m skipping the videos all together. Any suggestion for the final? Should I take the practice tests?

I wouldn't take each section's practice test, no. Take the practice final and see how you do, and if you really bomb any one section then review that section and take just that one section's practice test, maybe
