Looking for an English BA or BS program frantically. Please help!
#1
Does anyone know of an English BA plan that I can test out of from the Big Three? I've been searching for days and can't seem to find one. I want to earn an English teaching degree, but I know I can't test out of that so an English BA or BS would work with a MAT later.
Please help!Confusedeeya:

I'm currently studying to be a teacher. Be careful and research the requirements of the teacher's college you want to attend first. Some may not recognize a lot of credit-by-exam, but I'm being very hypothetical. Your problem would be in getting senior credits. Your best bet is to test out of most of the requirements, and take the senior level (in-major) credits through a local CC, or one of the big 3.
Goal - BA Mathematics Major at TESC

It used to be possible to test out of a BA in English at TESC, but with having to take a Liberal Arts capstone and Ohio U reducing their credit-by-exam offerings, things have changed somewhat.

I can suggest this: look at Ohio U's UL English CBE options, and you can definitely test out of the 100/200 level stuff with CLEP:

6 credits American literature
6 credits English literature (3 will rool over into general electives)
6 credits Analyzing Literature

The advice in the previous post is sound- please follow it and verify everything with a TEC advisor beforehand.

You can test out of the bulk of the undergrad at any of the Big 3, Then cobble together 9-10 UL English classes from the following resources:

University Online Course Catalog - BYU Independent Study
English > Division of Continuing Education > Colorado State University-Pueblo
English-Independent Study in Idaho-University of Idaho

It might technically be a liberal studies degree...I don't know how that would affect your plans.

Test out of around 90 credits for around $3000 or so plus 10 UL courses at around $5000 plus whatever fee's the school will wind up charging. You would still be under $10,000 for a Bachelors.

MAT at Morningside for another $5000 or so.

It would be fun.
MBA, Western Governors University February 2014
BS Charter Oak State College November 2011
AS in EMS August 2010

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Thank you for your comments everyone!
Okay, so am I to understand that none of the Big 3 has an English degree that can be tested out of?
I figure if I can test out of an English Degree, I could then earn my Masters in Teaching.

I could probably test out of a few classes for that but the student teaching requirement classes and the specialized Lit classes have to be taken there.
