If I transfer US History I CLEP (for ex.) to EC, will my transcript say "US History I CLEP" or "HIS 221 US History I" (meaning, the EC equivalent course)?
This is just an example question. I wanna know if the transcript will have "clep" or the equivalent course.
(reason for question: I am considering an Associate degree which I will transfer. I want to know if I will be transferring "cleps" or classes from EC. The school I'd be getting the 4yr degree from evaluates the transferred credits course-by-course, btw)
this is all hypothetical for now, as I am planning in order to make my decision.
thanks for the feedback!

Excelsior makes it very clear where each credit on the transcript is from. Each college or exam program has its own section with each course/exam and grade/score listed. The information is not converted in any way. EC does transfer grades and awards grades for some DSST exams, which are compiled into a separate GPA.
I recently learned that TESC and COSC convert the exams to course equivalents. TESC does not transfer grades or give grades for CLEP/DSST exams, but COSC does give grades for some DSST exams.

Thank you! That is not really good news. . .
I wonder: could I transfer my CLEPs to TESC, get a transcript w/ the TESC courses (that were converted from CLEP), then take that transcript to EC?
(EC has less fees, that's why I'm considering it)
How much would TESC charge me for a transcript like that w/o enrolling to get a degree? How would that even work?
sorry for all the questions!

Also, do some extra reading/searching of the forum for this topic. I have learned a lot about school policies from posts by Cookderosa, in particular.
From what I understand through reading previous posts, it is often required when transferring schools (for undegraduate or graduate degrees) to send ALL transcripts for evaluation, not just the one for the finished degree.
If this is the case, I'm not sure how making course equivalents on the degree transcript is helpful in the long run.

Did I miss something? Wouldn't the CLEPs just transfer in to cover whatever equivalent courses exist at the new school? Subject to their limits of course.

you are right. . . but I am considering getting an associate then transferring to a school who is very picky about CLEPs. They won't give me much credit for the CLEPs, but if I got TESC credits . . . they may be more appealing.
Trying to figure out the best option for me.

hmm. wow. I wonder though, if my TESC transcript says TESC courses and the EC degree/transcript says TESC courses, wouldn't that be enough? Would I have to send the school my CLEP transcripts too? How far back will they want to take this?

It is my understanding that it is best to follow the policies for the 4-year school (unless there is an articulation agreement), so that you do not waste time and money on unusable credits for the bachelor's degree.
