Math requirement HELP
#1
Hello,

I'm new to this forum , and have an unique situation, I'm enrolling in Excelsior and have 24 ACE credits so far.

I do not have a high school diploma and decided to enroll in the 24 credit option with Excelsior that allows me to earn my high school diploma at the same time.

The issue is I have tried Aleks for the past six months and can't get past 50 percent in the pie. I believe I have a math disability and need just the math credit for my high school diploma (as well for college).

Are there any options out there easier than Liberal Arts Math or Aleks for someone in my situation?

I would take a look at the math courses at Study.com. I was having a similar issue with Aleks statistics. I took stats at SDC and it was MUCH easier.

You could look into the CSM Learn course. I don't know if excelsior would accept it but it may be worth inquiring about. For what it's worth, they do let you work on the course through a trial for 2 hours which is enough time for you to decide if it's worth it to you. Then it's only $39 and self paced.

DSST/TECEP - Liberal Arts Math is the easiest math I know of that will work at TESU (not sure if Excelsior will accept that).

CLEP/Study.com College Math is next.

Again, it depends on what EC requires for your degree. But it's worth asking about.

All of these are WAY easier than ALEKS College Algebra or Stats.

Thanks for the response, there is a "transfer guide" on the Study.com page but it only lists Algerbra, Stats, and Calculus for transfer into Excelsior.

I'm assuming that any college level course that is ACE approved would be considered by Excelsior.

You can take Foundations of College Algebra for FREE through this link: https://phoenix.sophia.org/ - you must use the Phoenix page in order for it to be free, but when it transfers to ACE it makes no difference what "link" you signed up with.

It is on the Sophia / Excelsior Transfer agreement as meeting 3 credit in mathematics requirement (as of 2016): https://www.excelsior.edu/documents/4604...l+Arts.pdf

Not sure about COSC, but a definite No for TESU (they consider it remedial)

Ah, it must have updated since the 2016 doc I found. However, from the same (Phoenix) link I posted above the free Foundations of Statistics still comes in to meet the mathematics requirements for Excelsior based on the link nosey561 just shared. For Free it would be worth trying.

The Foundations of Statistics is still a No for TESU or COSC.
