Question for Homeschooled or Recent HS Grads
#11
I've looked into graduation requiremets quite a bit and the school has to give him a diploma, even without foreign language. Very simpe to look up state req. for high school diploma. Look it up yourself and check to make sure he has what he needs to graduate per the state. Having said that, college req. vary greatly. For instance, Biola requires 4 years of Foreign language or the student must take foreign language while in college. My friend decided to take the extra language courses in highschool to avoid paying for those classes at the expensive college. Check with your college!!!!!

Here is a very good link explaining the minimum course requirements for admission to NC state schools:
http://www.cfnc.org/static/pdf/home/sc/p...ements.pdf

Note the options if these requirements are not on your high school transcript. You can't just take the one or two courses you need at CC and have that count. You have to do a lot more:

If you do not complete the MCR during
high school, you have three options.
First, you can graduate from a community
college with an Associate Degree in Arts,
Associate Degree in Science, or Associate
Degree in Fine Arts. A second option is to
complete the 44 hour general education
transfer core at a North Carolina
Community College as described in the
Comprehensive Articulation Agreement
(University of North Carolina. The
third option is to complete six semester
hours each of English, math, science,
social science, and foreign language with
a grade of “C” or better in each course.
If you have any questions about your
admissibility, make sure you contact the
admission office of the UNC institution(s)
you are considering.

But, not to muddy the waters, this is for a college entrance to a specific college system- this in no way affects what a student takes in high school.

BTW Marianne, what ever happened?
