'My Access' tool question; when should i feel ready?

I am currently preparing to take the Ece Eng comp and i am using 'my access' to practice essay writing.

So far i tried 6 prompts, and on the 1-6 point scale, five of my results range between 4.1 -4.5, and my best has been 5.1.

What score should be adequate for me to score an A grade?


Also,can anyone explain the 'Readability' rating on this tool? I read their explanation but it does not tell me whether my essay is better if readable by a lower or higher grader.

Am sorry if my 2nd question sounds silly,am not a native english speaker and non of my education so far has been American (except my 42 Clep/dsst credits); I was taught that the best writers of English use simple,straight forward language,and wonder if this translates to, e.g, on 'my access' am better off if my 'Readability' is grade 8 than if it is grade 12??

I was disappointed with MyAccess when I used it. They made it sound like it would grade your actual writing, when it's really a glorified spell and grammar check. Probably the most useful aspect is that it allows you the opportunity to practice writing for the sake of practice.

I still haven't gotten my score back from that test, but I feel good about it. I think the best advice I can give is to make sure you're addressing the prompt point for point; if it asks you to critique aspect X, Y and Z of an essay, do exactly that. Just make darn sure that you know what is being asked of you, and be as accurate as possible when fulfilling it. Know the 3 types of prompts that will be given so you will have a good idea of what you'll be writing. Other than that, brush up on grammar and spelling if you need to. Like many other ECE tests, there won't be many surprises provided you've paid attention to the Exam Content Guide.

Thanks for the timely advise. It will be interesting to know how you performed when yr result comes back! I will be taking mine 22nd.
