Technical Writing
#1
First does anyone know if this is accepted under GEN ED for TESC for the BALS bachelor of arts/sciences in liberal studies? Second does anyone know where i can take this class online, etc. cheap at my own pace? I thought straighterline had this course but I mut have been dreaming do not see it on the list. Any help will be much appreciated. Done with essential all my work on my two TESC classes that end in June ad looking to get some other course credit in the meantime.

Thanks again. This is actual for my son who does not test well, but he is a great writer.

I'm studying for three UL DSST tests for myself. Hoping to be finished by fall. So tired of waiting to graduate trying to do it together.

He might want to consider the TECEP in Technical Writing. (pdf description.)

It's an examination with not one multiple-choice or short answer or anything question "about" technical writing; it's assessed entirely by performance at four technical communication tasks.

It's four hours and there are tasks to move between. There's a reasonably clear grading rubric but the ultimate score report is credit/no credit; if he doesn't pass, he has one more attempt possible with payment of another fee. In any case, only passes are transcripted, not failures. For a nervous tester, the downside risk seems very low.

This could be a way both for him to knock out the credits in one session by showing what he can do, and to get more comfortable with testing.

Just a thought. (And good luck to you both! Smile )

I had started a post about FEMA credits and Columbia Southern University.

and,

w/in the thread I was asking about SL courses as well.

A very helpful post was made that SL Bus Commun. = Tech Writing at CSU
(So, I wonder if it's the same at TESC?)

I have not verified this with the school, but if you read that thread it sounds as
though that very helpful forum member may have taken SL Bus Commun. and transferred
it in as Tech Writing. (please note, this was for CSU, but maybe TESC is the same)?

I am sure the many TESC members of this forum will be able to verify if this is true or not.

Good Luck!
