No, but people are recommending TESU because TESU is going to be cheaper for someone with no credits. If you are looking for planning advice for TESU it doesn't make any sense to get advice that only applies to other colleges and not TESU.

Just because you are recommending TESU doesn't mean that is where the OP will end up. The OP doesn't even know what degree they want. The fastest degree could be anything. TESU isn't often the cheapest option. But whatever.

For letter grades, it all depends on the receiving institution, the majority will not provide letter grades as ACE/NCCRS are external courses taken at an educational provider that is not a college or university. They will just acknowledge that you have the transferable course complete and that's it. If they do have a letter grade come in, those would only be showing external GPA for their own evaluation purposes. Out of the Big 3, COSC is the only one that provides an external letter grade, EC and TESU just marks that as credit transferred. I believe most of the competency based degree providers such as WGU does the same, no letter grade when transferred.

In my EC account it shows every grade I have earned outside of EC that they transferred in. Every grade was also used in calculating my GPA there which I thought was odd since it all transferred in.

UMPI shows the letter grade for everything transferred in. None of this is calculated in my GPA.

CSU Global just shows TR for every course which transferred in. None of the classes are included in my GPA.

Three different schools....three different policies. It's crazy!

People are directly you towards Sophia right now because of the low cost (it is a wise move).  Study.com (SDC) will be ideal for meeting the balance including the UL credits you will need. Excluding the two required TESU courses you could do all you need with Sophia and SDC. COSC now has some RA requirements, so that will likely not be your best bet having no credits to start. I'm not sure how EC works at all so I can't begin to provide guidance with them. Personally I recommend TESU - it is usually the easiest to plan for, although a bit higher in cost because of the residency waiver.

Also "the grade doesn't matter" with Sophia (& most ACE courses) because as long as you get over a 70 (the required to pass) it gets transcribed on the ACE transcript as only a PASSED (no grade) which is what ends up posted to your school official transcript.  I believe with one of the providers (SL?) you have the option to have the grade post to COSC if you send the transcript directly from them to COSC.

These threads are recent and are a good reference for how the Sophia credits can be maximized at the three Big3 schools.

My Parchment transcript for Sophia does not say PASSED. It says the numeric score I received in the class.

Ah, Parchment is a new option this processes (I was not aware) - Someone posed the question on another thread (not yet answered) not too long ago.  I just re-asked so hopefully the mystery will soon be known - see https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...#pid316899

What I do know is if you send the courses to COSC via ACE transcript it only reflects as a PASS. I would go with ACE unless Parchment is free to send (and you have reason to need a grade in the subject, assuming they post it as such - such as your future plans in grad school require a prerequisite letter graded course in 'XYZ' - such as science, like biology - given as example because this just came up in another thread; https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-Easy-Biology). Either way be sure to add any qualified course to your ACE transcript for safe keeping (course providers come and go - ACE is "forever").

The Sophia transcript costs $5.25 through Parchment. Much less than through ACE. You can still add your Sophia courses to ACE.

Sophia also has a program if you attend an affiliated school your transcripts are sent for free from Sophia to your school. They've been partnered with Parchment since at least April because that's when I did my first Sophia course and my first Sophia transcript was through Parchment then.

Parchment is a reliable service if anyone is wondering about it. It's one of the top transcript services in the country. There's a handful of them and this one seems to be the most commonly used by schools. I'm just thrilled transcripts are electronic nowadays instead of taking 3 weeks or more to be snail mailed.
