Pierpont to Charge $130 Fee for BOG Degree
#21
Thanks for sharing this email. Is there an average time Nancy answers emails? I sent one 11 days ago and have not had any reply. Not sure if it was sent to a spam box or she is overwhelmed with work.

It varies. I can tell when she’s really busy. She’s answered emails in less than an hour, but sometimes a week or so.

While I haven't gotten any correspondence from Ms. Parks on the new student fee, I don't see what the problem is. We've paid our previous colleges, Sophia, Study.com, Arizona State, etc.

Ms. Parks is the lone advisor for the BOG program, and that's a lot of work for anyone, especially when I can only assume that as this information about the degree has gotten out more, there's been a higher influx of folks coming in. Again, it hasn't been confirmed with me via email yet, but if that's the case, I have no problem paying it.

I am also a part of the December graduating class, and while I wasn't informed directly about the fee, I got an email saying my account has an unpaid balance, and went into the ROAR section to check... there is a $130 New Student Fee due on my account.  $130 is still a bargain to me, so no issues paying that, but check your account to make sure!

According to a few members of a FB group I'm in regarding Alt Credits, it seems that Pierpont is now charging $130  "new student fee" starting this Fall. So it may not be a "free" BOG degree anymore.

This is incorrect. They are inadvertently looking at the portfolio submission application for Life Experience.  I'd get your information from Degree Forum, unless you have a direct e-mail from Nancy, that shows explicitly her stating this.

I was charged the $130 fee, I'm in the Dec graduating class.

My correspondence with Ms. Parks today. She asked me to share. Pay attention to the second line. I hope this gives clarity.

This makes perfect sense!  It's not a specific BOG Degree Fee, but rather a New Student Fee being applied, which is already in effect across all other degree programs; and also this will ensure that the BOG Degree Program does receive funding support. This makes sense because I'm sure they spend a lot of time conducting transcript evaluations and talking to tire kickers. Oh I just read the rest of the posted message - indeed it is because they do have to spend sometimes more time on these transcripts. Good for them! If you have graduated from the BOG Degree Program I recommend two things: Sending Nancy and the Registrar a thank you note and Donating to the school.

I couldn’t agree more. Supporting the school shows them the continued success of the program. I already have my Christmas cards ready for them.

Oh Yes, I am up and running since this thread opened! My account and everything for Pierpont is setup, now just have to chose an emphasis, I've got so many options I don't know which one to choose... and I need to apply for graduation before the end of the month in order to get the audit done for December grad. I did this just to support the Pierpont BOG program and also I had a little free time...

I thought the Pierpont BOG AAS wasn't open to anyone who already had an associate degree or above? Am I missing something?

I will be a December graduate, but I did not see a fee yet. I checked my student account 3 times this week in ROAR and have not received a fee charge yet. Anyone else, not get a charge yet?

What puzzles me is that when I applied at the end of July, I did not see anything on their website about the $130 fee. I also did not receive any e-mails from the school about the new student fee either. The Fall semester started, with classes beginning, on August 18th at Pierpont. Now, in mid-September, it seems this fee appears out of nowhere. I'm in full support of the Pierpont and think the BOG program is a great outlier in the expensive mess that higher education is in the USA but I just wish there was seriously no mention to me about the $130 fee during my initial correspondence with the school's staff during July.

The economy and the cost of living in the USA is now so bad, I really don't blame them for wanting to go forward with new student fees. It would have been nice if the word of this would have gotten out earlier or they would have started this next year in 2024.

Since the fee is a 'New student fee' you may have applied before it went into effect. You may be one of the last to get in totally free (pre-Fee).

Since you applied in July, the new student fee may not apply to you. It sounds like it's only for new students as of fall/autumn.
