Most people with an associate degree spend thousands on it so $130 is dirt cheap. Where else can you get any degree for that price? It really was only a matter of time before they started charging a fee. The diplomas are printed and mailed which costs $$$. Nancy has a salary which costs $$$. There are other staff involved in evaluating transcripts and administrative work which costs $$$.

What's the FB Group? I tried finding one but couldn't locate any. I'd be interested in joining if it is open for new members.

I am honestly surprised they waited this long. They needed to do this long ago. They need to make up for Nancy's time and the other staff for this.

Cause lord forbid the state to waste money giving out free degrees and having someone on the payroll that’s a loss. I bet that doesn’t happen often.

Ding ding... yeah, there are so many things going on with several states and the option for 'freebies' may be coming to an end. First to go was the Union funded Associates degree, the WV BOG degree is up now... I wonder what would come next, hmm...

Don't forget TADA ending next year. It was bound to happen with as many people enrolling for it. Plus the new President was clear that changes were coming to Pierpont all around. This is one of the reasons I plan to join the alumni association. Paying it forward by supporting the school and donating is not a tall task for a degree that was given for free.

Well, the taxpayers of West Virginia have been footing the bill and that's not fair to them. That state needs all the money it can get.

While I haven't gotten any correspondence from Ms. Parks on the new student fee, I don't see what the problem is. We've paid our previous colleges, Sophia, Study.com, Arizona State, etc.
Ms. Parks is the lone advisor for the BOG program, and that's a lot of work for anyone, especially when I can only assume that as this information about the degree has gotten out more, there's been a higher influx of folks coming in. Again, it hasn't been confirmed with me via email yet, but if that's the case, I have no problem paying it.
I am also a part of the December graduating class, and while I wasn't informed directly about the fee, I got an email saying my account has an unpaid balance, and went into the ROAR section to check... there is a $130 New Student Fee due on my account. $130 is still a bargain to me, so no issues paying that, but check your account to make sure!

This is incorrect. They are inadvertently looking at the portfolio submission application for Life Experience. I'd get your information from Degree Forum, unless you have a direct e-mail from Nancy, that shows explicitly her stating this.
I was charged the $130 fee, I'm in the Dec graduating class.

My correspondence with Ms. Parks today. She asked me to share. Pay attention to the second line. I hope this gives clarity.
