Possible Future DEAC University

For that price if you're fast you can go to an RA. The idea is excellent, the no accreditation is what kills it completely.

The point of the "FAT-fee" option is to get done fast. As you say, you can go to an RA school for the "fast-track" price. You're going to have a hard time completing a degree in six months at an RA school though. You'd have to have MASSIVE credits for transfer, for starters. Maybe those and a one=semester WGU marathon, with 100 gallons of high-octane coffee. At 78, that's too much for me.

Yes - you can go to an NA school for the normal-track price - University of the People is in that range - NA now and is under evaluation for RA.

Starting off unaccredited works for some schools - not for others. Quantic School of Business made it to NA quickly (formerly known as Smart.ly) and UOTP as well. Don't much care for the expensive fast=track. As Howlin' Wolf, one of my favorite Bluesmen sang, "I'm built for comfort, not for speed." Smile

There's Slippery Rock University. It's a legit RA university and been around since the 1800's. My favorite is Bob Jones University. Real school. Hilarious name. Not sure of any worse than University of the People though. That's one just tacky and sounds like an online scam.

To me, University of the People’s isn’t that bad. But I do tend to think that it is the education arm of Jim Jones’ People’s Temple.  Don’t drink the Kool Aid...

Why is anyone talking about accreditation when the chairman says they'll probably never spend the money to be accredited?

My understanding is that a lot of start-up schools have said they're applying for accreditation as a way to attract more students but then the actual accreditation never appears.  I think this is the list

I know that they're supposed to be "smart cars" but they shouldn't be getting degrees...

I'm glad to see world quant in the process of seeking an accreditation. They currently offer a free masters in "financial engineering" so even having DEAC accreditation would make that a good deal.

World Quant University is interesting. I spent a couple of days really looking at them. I think that this is the one university in which it doesn't matter if it is accredited. The curriculum looks extremely rigorous and if you have the skills to complete it, the accreditation would be icing on the cake.
