FEMA's and EC Question

Hey All!

Ok, so as some of you know from my rant a few weeks ago, EC screwed up my eval and I now need 3 credits in Arts & Science or Health Sciences to graduate. I'm wondering if anyone here has used FEMA credits at EC? How do they show up on your transcript? How long does it take to get them transcribed and sent to EC? I just thought this might be faster than doing another exam. I'm trying to get everything done by 11/17 so I can be done with EC. I'm so fed up with them right now. Don't get me wrong the liberal arts side is wonderful, but their health science side has a ton of issues and I just want to be out of there.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I'm so sorry this happened!

If I remember correctly, there is only one FEMA credit that is in Arts & Sciences and NFA won't work either.

How about the Technical Writing DSST? I've read good things about that one. Does it duplicate anything you already have?

This is what the ACE website says about the 3 NFA courses for credit:

Q118 - Community Safety Education - In the vocational certificate or lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 1 semester hour in Fire Science, Adult Education, General Education, Public Health, or Safety Studies

Q137 - Hydraulic Calculations - In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 1 semester hour in Fire Science, or Industrial Safety

Q318 - Fire Service Supervision - In the vocational or lower division baccalaureate/associate category, 1 semester hour in Personnel or Human Resources Management, Business or Public Administration, Behavioral Science, Fire Science, Fire Administration, Law Enforcement, or Criminal Justice

If you find health science at FEMA, could you do a combination of health science and arts & science credit?

The one I've seen mentioned as a possibility for arts & sciences is called Effective Communication.

I don't know anything about health science. Does the one called Orientation to Hazardous Materials for Medical Personnel seem like a health science to you? IS-346 An Orientation to Hazardous Materials for Medical Personnel

Compared to CLEP/DSST, this would be an extra cost and you may not be able to get a clear approval from EC for FEMA. It's another risk to your completion date.
