The Quality Science Education (QSE) program—developed in collaboration with Pathway for Patient Health—is a 100% tuition-scholarship micro-credential program for college students seeking careers in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. While valued at $3,600, tuition is fully covered by a scholarship, requiring only a $10 enrollment fee per semester.
Key Program Features
- Certification: Graduates earn the Certified Quality Science Professional (CQSP) designation upon completion.
- Format & Commitment: On-demand, self-paced learning requiring 3–5 hours per week, featuring weekly live instructor sessions and 1-on-1 industry mentorship.
- Career Support: Direct access to the exclusive Quality Champions Hiring Platform, connecting students with major recruiting partners (e.g., Merck, Medtronic, GSK, Johnson & Johnson, Edwards Lifesciences, Bristol Myers Squibb).
- Eligibility: Open to degree-seeking college students from any major or country (no science prerequisite required).
Curriculum Structure The core curriculum consists of three university-level credit-equivalent courses (9 credit hours total), complemented by university-level business and science coursework:
- Course 01: Foundations of Quality Science – Covers global regulations, the product lifecycle, complaints, recalls, and enforcement actions.
- Course 02: Product Development & Validation – Focuses on pharma product validation, medical device design controls, and emerging technologies.
- Course 03: Risk and Failure Analysis – Teaches proactive product design, failure investigations, and industry tools (5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA, traceability matrices).
- Complementary Requirements: Completion of Business Acumen and a non-major science/microbiology course (taken through the student's home institution or waived for relevant industry experience).
How to Apply
- Application: Complete a brief online application form before the December 7 deadline.
- Approval: Receive confirmation of the 100% tuition scholarship (typically within two business days).
- Onboarding: Join the cohort, meet your professor, and connect with your mentor.

Great find! And at a good price too. I am curious about this though:
"Each course carries the workload of a 3-credit-hour university course, with graded homework, exams and a live cohort. That's 9 credit hours of real academic work across the program. It's built to be completed, not just started."
Does that mean once certified, you gain 9 credit hours at the graduate level? Still, seems like a good program.

I found a couple of links related to this program:
https://www.qualitychampions.org/curriculum
"Foundations of Quality Science. (No Pre-requisite). 3 credit hour course developed by our philanthropic partner, Pathway for Patient Health. This course is focused on “why” global regulations were adopted, and the evolution of the quality systems grounded in science.
Product Development and Validation. (Prerequisite: the Foundations of Quality Science course). 3 credit hour course developed by our philanthropic partner, Pathway for Patient Health. This course is divided into 3 parts: pharmaceutical validation, medical device design controls, and emerging technology.
Risk and Failure Analysis. (Prerequisite: the Foundations of Quality Science course). 3 credit hour course developed by our philanthropic partner, Pathway for Patient Health. This course is divided into 2 parts: how to design risk out of your product to begin with, and how to investigate failure if/when it occurs. This course introduces students to the investigation processes and writing scientifically justified conclusions linked to true root cause."
Here's another:
https://www.qualitychampions.org/university-overview
This one lists the participating colleges as: Clemson University, Concordia University-St. Paul, DPGU, Earlham College, Fayetteville State University, Georgia State University, LaSalle University, Manhattan University, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Rutgers, St. Cloud State University, Technological University Dublin, The Wistar Institute, University of Minnesota-Duluth, The University of Toledo, Western New England University and Xavier University.
So, sounds pretty legit to me.

One I saw requires not only the 3 courses, but a total of 5 (1 in business and another in microbiology - although they may be waived based on working professionals/students in those areas). I wonder if taking the microbiology course and a business course via Sophia would satisfy that requirement.
