Hello All
I received my preliminary evaluation or review from Excelsior college for the Bachelor of Science Degree- Biology concentration. I am not sure I quite understand how to read it. I was also trying to see if anyone knew what tests from CLEP, ECE, TECE or anywhere else would help me complete the remaining credits I need to complete. Any help provided would be appreciated.

I have attached the document for easier reading but I have pasted it below as well

Basically, they gave you 2 evaluations. The section above "Natural Science/Biology" major is for a BS in Liberal Arts. As you complete the requirements for the major, you can cross off the credits you need in the Liberal Arts area, too. For instance, the biology major will count as the depth in arts & sciences, too. Plus, the upper-level credits for the biology major will count toward the upper-level credits in arts & sciences.
For humanities credit, consider the A&I Lit CLEP.....Wait.......I take that back. If you don't need LL credit, then consider UL Ethics (2) and Religion DSSTs for this instead.
Since you basically only need UL credit and part of a second depth, be very careful in your planning, at this point.
I'm not sure if the requirements have changed, but Sunshine posted her courses/exams for completing the biology major about 2-3 years ago. It may still be worth searching for it.
Look at the EC credit by exam booklet on their website. It lists all the exams they accept and how they apply at EC. This will include DSST/CLEP/ECE's/UExcel exams. You will find this invaluable as you plan your journey. Good luck!

Marianne202 - I started looking at the catalog requirements and I think I have become more confused - I am hoping it is due to the fact I have been looking at it all day hehe...
So another question...Does anyone know if I was to take exams for the Natural Science Major Biology concentration would it also cover the depth requirements and the total of credits needed (which on my preeval it states 21 credits). Or is the Natural Science Major concentration in addition to the 21 credits in arts and sciences ????
I'm not sure what exams/courses you will be able to find for the Natural Science/Biology major. That will take some work on your part to investigate and I'm sure other members will be interested in learning what you find. Also, note that the Natural Science major option (without biology) is new in the last few months.
Yes, if you earn 18 UL credits for the major, they will be applied toward the minimum 21 UL arts & sciences credits that you need. A major or area of focus or depth in biology will count as the depth in arts & sciences.
The top part of the eval is for a BSLA without a major. As you fulfill the requirements for the major, you can also eliminate the requirements in the top section. Some courses/exams can fill more than one requirement.
Also, you probably already have 6-9 credits for your second depth. That should be easier to finish than it appears.
Click on "See the course requirements..." and Excelsior lists Uexcels and ECEs that can be used toward the degree. There aren't many available right now, but Ohio University offers a few exams in biology. TESC offers the Science of Nutrition TECEP.
