Since I had credits from CC as well, I only need three classes to complete an AAS in computer studies, SOS-110, APS-295, and COM209 or English202. I have registered for these courses for the June term, however, I have discovered Study.com (from this forum), I think I can take a course there for the Oral communication requirement? Being that his will save me a great deal of money, I am considering dropping the COM209 course I signed up for Communications 101 at Study.com. Is this something I can do?
I have also learned of the residency fee. My question for that is, although my near term goal is to finish my Associates and apply for graduation possibly in December. Will I need to pay the residency fee then? Since I would have less than 16 credits from TESU. I am considering taking classes towards a BA in IT. Unfortunately the classes I had in mind are not offered in June term.
Regarding the English 202, you could take CLEP for free. You sign up using Modernstates.org. If you are already good in English then just watch the videos to be able to get the voucher for the exam. Sign up to take the exam on clep.collegeboard.org, and use the free voucher for the correct English CLEP. I forget right now which is which, but one is only 3 credits, and one is 6 credits. Make sure you sign up for the one with writing. (Which happens to be extremely easy writing.) Lastly, I received an email today stating that starting soon you can take CLEP exams from your home!! I haven't read all the info yet, but I am done with CLEP after tons of tests. Hope that helps.
There is no CLEP that replaces ENG202 (Technical Writing). There is a TECEP for $150, though: http://www2.tesu.edu/tecep.php?CourseCode=ENG-201 mashr, are you sure that it's Technical Writing OR Public Speaking? Could you share a screenshot of your degree evaluation?
Sorry. You are right. I read that as 102 and not 202 even though I typed 202? Duhhh.

If you want to save the most money, most people here would tell you to drop all the courses except for SOS-110.
Use my guide on how to get through the SOS-110 without any stress. That course you will get an A or B guaranteed, no worries. https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...Experience
Instead of Applied computer studies, you can do Computer Science which then eliminates the need to take APS-295 capstone from TESU. However, you would need a math requirement higher than college algebra which the easiest would be statistics from Sophia.org. (if you didn't already have a stats math course) https://www.tesu.edu/heavin/asnsm/computer-science
The Oral Communication requirement, the easiest course is study.com Communications 120: Presentation Skills in the Workplace which satisfies the Oral Communication requirement for TESU. You can complete this course in 1-3 days.
For English Composition I ENC-101 & English Composition II the CLEP exam would be the fastest. You could take Modern States to earn free voucher or just pay the CLEP fee and take the test at home via an online proctor. Other options are Study.com or Sophia.org.
This was the CLEP I was suggesting for the English.
PC Age! Again Eh? ...I've got a few private messages for these guys, they're a NJ private IT school and back in the day, they provided courses that could transfer to TESU. I had a couple or three follow through the steps I provided them to get their AAS in Computer Studies. They recently (in the last 5 years) changed their courses around and now they're basically using IT certs that will transfer over to TESU. Anyways, their courses can ladder into a BSIT or BS Tech Studies. I highly suggest you create a screen capture of your evaluation - everything but your personal info, we can help with the missing courses!

Thank you everybody for replying. I am very happy I found this forum and community!
Attached is my evaluation towards a AAS for Computer Studies. I really would like to obtain a Associates degree, I am soo close, just 9 more credits! I am considering BA as well, especially now since discovering there are other means to obtaining college credits! I had no idea until stumbling upon this forum.
Yeah, I think you could get the ASNSM in Computer Science for much cheaper than the AAS in Computer Studies. Drop the Associate's capstone, take SOS-110 at TESU, do "Presentation Skills in the Workplace" at Study.com and you've got your Associate's degree.
But, instead of doing that, if you need an Associate's degree RIGHT NOW, I would apply to Pierpont for a FREE AAS degree: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Pierpont_C%26TC I think you might be missing a couple of Pierpont's requirements but you can easily get those through Sophia.org ($89/month). It should take you less than a month to obtain any credits you're missing for Pierpont's requirements.
Save the money you were going to spend on the AAS Computer Studies and get yourself a bachelor's degree.

That correct, you only need 3 classes (9 credits) to complete the Computer Studies degree.
Study.com Communications 120: Presentation Skills satisfies the Oral Communication requirement, you could easily get this done in a week, then you only have to take 2 classes at TESU. PM me your email to get $20 off study.com.

I know you're very close to the AAS Computer Studies, but I think there are better options for time and money, but which is a better option depends on your goals.
If you want to continue into a bachelor's at TESU, I would suggest looking at what the ASNSM Computer Science shows as required. It should just be your general electives and the cornerstone, which you should be able to knock out at Sophia in a month or two. This would allow you to only have to do SOS-110 for your associates, instead of the cornerstone and the capstone, saving a good chunk of money.
If you just want to stop at an associates I think the Pierpont BOG AAS would be extremely low cost for you, as opposed to spending time and money with TESU.

I don't think that mashr needs any electives at all for an ASNSM Computer Science. There are already a looooooooooot of (currently unused) courses listed that should suffice for one or more elective slots.

An Associates at TESU will cost $5,097 if you take 1 course there (and $6,654 if you take 2 courses). That is a LOT of money for an AA/AS, and not worth it in my opinion. Especially when you can get an AAS for free at Pierpont.

If you really, really, REALLY want an Associate's from TESU, you can pick one up for "free" if you graduate with it at the same time as a Bachelor's degree. This only applies to the ASNSM Computer Science. The Computer Studies one requires the capstone and would not, IMO, be worth it at all. Get a Bachelor's degree + the ASNSM Comp Sci and it won't cost you much more than JUST the single Computer Studies Associate degree. Much better bang for your buck.
