I transferred 33 credits to Excelsior from another B&M school. However, I would like to remove this university from my Excelsior transcript because I've decided to pursue a career that's dependent on a higher GPA (they dropped my gpa). Can I remove this university's grades? I know you can not remove Excelsior's grades.
I've asked my advisor, but I'm waiting on a reply. I'm hoping someone may have gone through this before, and can weigh in.

This is an interesting question... If its possible, I could make use of this information as well to drop a B, which would push me back up to Summa Cum Laude. I know I have a few A's that I can replace it with.

Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.

I was able to do this. Just make sure to tell them your intent from the beginning. There is a deadline for removing grades... I think it's around 30 days from enrollment. I got rid of two Cs, although I was strongly considering removing Bs and had approval for it.

Related to this thread, I am curious if anyone has had experience with the following: Canceling out a test score on EC transcript
Let me be more specific. We all know that one can foolishly cancel a test score after taking the test. The computer screen gives you this option, but this would serve you no benefit since you probably passed anyway and even if you didnât, the ending result is identical: you donât get to take that test again for X number of days depending on the test format (CLEP/DSST/ECE).
What I am curious about, is after the fact, and more specifically regarding the ECE test format.
e.g. Say you are at a 3.91 and take a DSST test which scores you a B. Not bad if you are just looking to pass, but you have now dropped below the 3.9 threshold which removes you from contention to finish up with highest honors (summa cum). There are probably worse things to worry about, but one âAâ could have maintained the GPA and bumped you up a notch. When taking a DSST or even a CLEP, you can simply tell the school to disregard the score when it arrives, thus allowing you to take another exam in its place and maintain your GPA. With an ECE test, is this option possible? I know that if you take an official EC course, you are stuck with the grade. You can retake, but I believe that both scores are reported in your transcript. I could be wrong on that last point, but I have no idea how the test policy works for EC direct tests.
Anyone with firsthand knowledge or experience on this?

You have 30 days from your transcript evaluation or the grade being posted to have it removed. After that time you would need to substitute the grade for a higher one in the same subject area. I did a UExcel beta test not realizing they would automatically put it on my transcript. I didn't study for the test because of the way they asked for students to just take it based on previous coursework. I got a C. I wanted it removed an this is what I was told. I could do a CLEP or DSST equivalent exam and replace the score.
You can also change your major to switch schools within EC and they will redo your transcript at which time you have another 30 days to have courses and exams removed. I hope this info helps. Good luck!

marianne202,
Thanks for the follow-up. I actually sent my EC advisor team an email over the weekend and got a response today that seemed to contradict the aforementioned feedback, so I called them directly to get the scoop.
So the way it works is as such: For all CLEP/DSST & UExcel exams, the policy you mentioned is accurate. For ECE tests only, once you get a grade, you are stuck with it. I assumed that UExcel would work exactly like ECE (since they are an Excelsior product) but apparently UExcel is a cobranded product which operate similarly to CLEP/DSST or outside credit as it pertains to transcripting.
So for anyone thinking about squeezing in an extra ECE at the last minute (as I almost did), make sure you are prepared because as of now there is no safety net.
There is an possibility of changing your major as marianne suggested, and I am guessing that work-around will produce the desired effect though I did not ask about that specifically.

Bllyshrs - The EC Student Policy Handbook talks about replacing grades for EC courses and ECE & UExcel exams on pages 38 and 40. It looks like all attempts will stay on the student's transcript, but only the replacement grades will be part of the GPA.
Dondeal - When you finish your degree, please follow-up on this thread. If these classes don't count toward the 120 credits used for your degree, I'd like to know how this situation ends up being handled.
Marianne's idea of changing majors/schools is interesting, but be careful because making that kind of change can trigger new requirements like a capstone course.

NAP,
Good catch and thanks for the clarification. Looks like there is somewhat of a safety net as you mention the course will still appear on the transcript though it wonât affect GPA.
