I am new to Study.com courses. 

Currently, I am doing a Software Engineering course.

Do I need to take both individual lesson quiz as well as a Chapter practice test for grading?

You do not need to take the Chapter practice test for part of your grade. Only the lesson quizzes and proctored exam.
