Well its personal preference, but once you aren't using a clunky IDE then writing code for Ruby especially feels more natural in a Unix environment. So does python. It just feels more natural.
If you're using an IDE though it matters less, but for Ruby on Rails especially its better suited to working on the command line.

I dont update my surface frequently, I found everyone who update frequently runs into some problem.
What kind of updates are problematic?

Usually the latest windows 10 updates have caused all sorts of problems with the on screen keyboard, keeping into a booting lock and tons of issues with UEFI on updates. The 'red stripe and padlock' problem is also common after updates but nothing major.
Personally I once had a problem after an update where the volume bar was showing up randomly and causing the screen to lock and the only fix was to power back off then on again. It was fixed after I installed another update.
As of now the nice 'split' keyoard I had in tablet mode that made typing so easy went away and its now across the entire screen.

Agreed. I'm not wasting time coding on a win box, I'm booting into linux.
