As someone who is a complete noob to TEEX can you just give me a general idea of what it is? Is it some sort of free online school or something?
I think I found the class you are referring to here: https://teex.org/Pages/Program.aspx?catI...ersecurity The last "class" I believe is the on you are referring to correct? But then within that "class" it is made up of 4 smaller things each worth half a credit in order to get you credit for the class right? What are those 4 smaller things exactly, lectures? Tests? Is it like taking any other online class? Thanks for all the clarification, you do so much great stuff on and for this website sanantone ! ![]()

TEEX stands for Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service. They offer a lot of continuing education courses and training on ground and online. With funding from the Department of Homeland Security, they are offering free, security-related courses. The TEEX courses are online and self-paced. The smaller courses that make up the larger, ACE-approved course have modules that you must read through. After each module, you will take a quiz. Your average at the end of the small course has to be at least 80%. Once you complete all of the small courses for the Cybersecurity for IT Professionals course, then you can request credit through the ACE Transcript Service. Cybersecurity for Everyone (Cyber 101) counts as CIS-299 at TESC. Cybersecurity for Business Professionals (Cyber 301) counts as MAN-299.

The TEEX courses were put on my Evaluation as 2 credits of CIS-344, and then two different courses of 2 credits each for CIS-299. That was around October. Does this mean that the course codes have changed, or does this mean that one of the courses was entered incorrectly - and is this something I should be concerned about? I haven't done the Cybersecurity for Business Professionals courses, so I was just going off of information that was originally given. When I first found out about the TEEX courses, TESC strongly opposed to giving CIS credits for the business course. If they are now CIS credits, then that's great.

So, since TESC seems to be giving credit for multiple listings of CIS-299 in regards to TEEX, I have to ask...anyone recently submitted DSST Cybersecurity and TEEX IT Professionals and seen if they truly duplicate or if they're just listed the same?
If I'm completely out in left field here, please let me know. It just seems like it might be a couple extra free credits with the way they're working it now. I haven't submitted my ACE transcript yet, waiting to finish all the ALEKS I can, but once I have them done I'll submit and see what happens. I don't need the extras since I'm planning on taking other courses but I figure it's worth checking out.

Just to add... my TEEX credits were added to the academic evaluation this month as 4 cr of CIS-299 and 2 cr of CIS-344. So it seems like the codes have changed.

I'm going to guess that the DSST + TEEX will come on as CIS344 for 3, duplicating TEEX, but it should still yield 1 more credit than what you'd get with only the TEEX (that's a guess). I would expect something like this: DSST Cybersecurity CIS344 3 TEEX IT Prof. CIS344 0 (or 2 and 1, or 1 and 2) CIS 299, 2 (Everyone) CIS 299, 2 (Business)

CIS-344 is a specific course. If you take the DSST, then there is no point in taking the equivalent TEEX course. If you've already taken the TEEX course, then the DSST will bump it off the evaluation and yield an extra credit.
