TESC and Military
#1
I enrolled in TESC's Military Degree Completion Program (MDCP) about 2 years ago. In exchange for not having to pay any kind of annual tuition or anything, you agree to earn 12sh with TESC through online courses, TECEP's, etc.. Well, I just figured it out, and I'm 10 tests away from my BA and I've only earned 3sh by taking classes with TESC. I really don't want to slow myself down by taking these classes.

I was wondering if anyone knew if I complete all my degree requirements via testing and don't earn my 12sh with TESC, would I have to enroll as a regular student in order to graduate? I sent them an email last week and haven't heard back, so I was wondering if anyone had some insight.

Thanks!!

Have you thought of doing TECEPs for 3 of your 10 remaining tests? TECEPs are covered by military tuition assistance, so it won't cost you any extra. Since you are a psychology major, they have pleanty of tests to choose from if you need those credits too.

I thought you had to do 18 credits through online learning to use the military degree completion program.

TECP's do count toward the 18 sh that must be took from TESC. I called them about 4 months ago and that was the answer they gave me, PLA's count as well. However, if you don't want to complete the MDCP then you will have to enroll as a regular. In order to do that you have to send a statement to them(it is a specific lady, but I can't remember her name) stating that you want to be disenrolled in the MDCP and enroll as a regular student, as well as pay the tuition.

Well, you just saved me about $1500. What a coincidence that I have 18 credits left to graduate....

I didn't think that military TA covered the cost of TECEP's due to the fact that they cover CLEP's, DSST, and ECE's. That's interesting...

How would I get TA to cover the test? Just enroll like a regular class or...?

There is a section on the TA form where you can select credit by examination. That is what you do for TECEPs. The only downfall is since it is TA, you have to pass the class or pay back the money.

I agree with Chuckers on how to sign up for TECP's. I was told the exact same thing, so study well or you will end up paying the 1500...one way or the other.
