According to Nevados, if you took the FEMA courses before March 5th you have until June 30th to apply and enroll to TESC.

Do you have something in writing that says this? If so, please link us to private message me a copy. I accepted March 5th, and completed my FEMA courses prior to that. Right now they are basically telling me I am SOL, so having something in writing that proves differently would be great!

Jonathan Whatley Wrote:Are you sure? I think your first sentence, and the implication CLEP College Mathematics would go to electives but not a gen ed requirement, are mistaken. CLEP College Mathematics is beyond the entry-level requirements for college. Charter Oak's Master Exam List [pdf] indicates that CLEP College Mathematics does meet the Mathematics general education requirement ("q.") Charter Oak's search tool for COSC courses that meet their gen ed requirements shows that their own MAT 101 Contemporary Mathematics (3 sh, similar in content to the 6 sh CLEP College Math) will also meet the Mathematics gen ed requirement.
Jonathan Whatley is correct that COSC does not require Algebra and will accept CLEP College math as meeting gen ed requirement. As a personal example, I had my daughter complete ALEKS Intermediate Algebra. This did not meet their gen ed requirement (because it's Intermediate) but COSC DID apply it as a free elective. So she was able to keep the credits, just not to satisfy the gen ed math. She is currently enrolled and taking Charter Oak's own Contemporary Math. This is NOTHING like the CLEP College Math. Nothing. It is very, very easy. The first week covers things like Euler Circuits (example: planning out the best route for a meter reader). Week 9 covers voting methods: Plurality, Borda count, sequential pairwise etc. Easy stuff. If math/algebra is not easy for you, consider this course. There has been only one chapter that had a little Algebra, but it's all very easy. There are only 4 quizzes, the final exam, and a group project for the entire course. Plus weekly discussions where you post 2 or 3 problems from the lesson but that part is only 10% of the grade.
Since this is a FEMA thread, I'll add my desire that COSC continues to accept the FEMA credits. I should know by next week or so. My daughter took 2 last night and will take 3 more in the next couple days. I will then immediately send her transcripts to COSC. She needs to have all her credits to COSC before the end of April to graduate in May.

I will report back about the FEMA credits.

Can you tell me more about these credits? What do you mean by (6) and (3) after the names. Is this how many credit hours each test is?
I've been set back by this whole FEMA thing too. I was planning on finishing my degree in June, because my tuition with Thomas Edison expires then. But maybe I will be able to use these.

Wow, great info about TEEX. I am so glad I found this site. While I dont think these credits will have much of an impact on my pursuit of a BSBA General Management Degree, I still love free or cheap courses that you can get credit for. I am about to start six weeks of night shift so I will knock these out. So glad I saw this thread..

What do these transcribe as at TESC? How many credits? One credit each into free electives like FEMA?

Are you asking about the TEEX courses? I believe they are 2 credit courses. If you do a quick forum search someone posted the equivalencies from TESC. I think they can go into your area of study, not just free electives.

TEEX - 2 credit courses each. Total 6 credits. I have taken these courses, but I didn't have to use them.
