TESU - Community College & RA Questions
#11
For CCs, TESU will usually accept everything. The question is whether the courses in question will count as gen eds or as free electives or what. As previously stated, if you list them here, we can make some educated guesses. We need to know exact class names, grades, school(s), and number of credits.

How much would this cost me because i still have ways to go before I officially start taking classes at TESU

It costs $50 to apply, whatever it costs to send your transcripts (varies by school and is usually $5-15 per transcript), plus $52 for the Medical Terminology TECEP. You do not have to take the TECEP exam. After you do this, full enrollment will last for about 12 months. If you're not done with your degree by then, simply pay for another TECEP to renew for another year. In the long run, this will actually save you money. You'll be able to see exactly where classes go as you take them. If, for some reason, they stop accepting classes that you've already completed, they'll already be on your TESU transcript and still usable.

If you just have one CC transcript you want to know about, you can even put off signing up for the TECEP. That leaves you as an "applicant" instead of an enrolled student, but it still locks in your catalog for up to a year. Applicants only get two transcript evaluations, but you can always sign up for the TECEP if you need to go over that, or when you get close to one year.

So since I only get 2 evaluations.  I would only submit my community college and not my study dot com classes right?  or am i able to transfer in credit whenever?  Also, what is the TECEP?  will i eventually have to take this?

Since you get two evaluations, you could transfer in one CC transcript and one SDC transcript. If you want to have your credit evaluated beyond that, you would need to pay for a TECEP exam.

TECEPs are similar to CLEP exams - they're pass/fail exams that are worth credit. Except these are RA credit, unlike CLEP exams. You do not have to take any TECEPs. But, in order to enroll fully and remain enrolled at TESU, you need to either pay for a class or a TECEP every 12 months or so. The Medical Terminology TECEP is the cheapest way to enroll and to remain enrolled.

Your call. I'd probably just send in the CC transcript since we have a real good idea how SDC credits come in. After you've gotten more SDC credits, you can send that in. However, if it will help you make a final decision to send both in now, then do that. The cost of the 1cr TECEP just isn't that big a deal. One thing to note is that once you sign up for the TECEP, you aren't considered enrolled until a few days into the term you signed up for, so it can take up to a month.

My evaluation electives are all college courses.  Would these be considered RA?  I went to Morton College.

Yes, if accepted by TESU, all Community College credits are RA.

@mt_1994, I've merged your threads into this one and renamed the title. Basically any course you take from a college/university that is regionally accredited is RA. Nationally accredited institutions are NA, and ACE/NCCRS are just that, ACE and NCCRS recommended for alternative college credit. Essentially there was a link posted earlier in the thread, you may want to revisit the 'common terms', do some quick search, and have a read on the WIKI.
