TESU Per-source mistake
#1
My last academic evaluation is now complete, and it indicates to me that I am over the 45cr limit for an associates from a single source, as all of ACE counts as a single source. I (perhaps naively) thought this limitation was per source *on* the transcript, such as StraighterLine, Saylor, and so on -- but it counts for the transcript as a whole.

Just info for thought for others who may also have intended to gather up a bunch of credits via ACE. I thought I was only 6cr from my ASBA graduation, but it turns out I'm actually 16cr away, as I'm missing 7 in human cultures and 3 in electives. Thankfully, in pursuit of a BSBA, everything will still "fit" as I'm nowhere near the 90cr limit there yet.

You can order transcripts from individual sources as well. Not sure if that would help or not, but it may be an option to get away from that 45cr limit on the ACE transcript.

I'm pretty sure they won't accept them if they're not on an ACE/NCCRS transcript or from another school. A transcript direct from StraighterLine for example would likely just be ignored.

They definitely accept Saylor credits directly because they have an agreement with them.

Are you wanting to get your ASBA at the same time? You can redo the transfer or evaluation.
There was a thread earlier, it did mention a work around as Straighterline has an agreement with TESU.

The option was to request / remove SL credits from ACE and readd to it after your degree has been processed.
You just have to get SL to send those credits to TESU directly, just like the Saylor ACE or NCCRS courses.

Look at who the last poster in that thread was.. Wink

I may open a ticket and see if they can "fix" the evaluation as is, or if I have to hoop-jump and remove SL from ACE.

Thank you for posting this Alzee. Had just sent official ACE transcript last week, but it was over 45 credits and I needed to remove SL credits. First evaluation not complete yet. Still waiting on two CC.

I finally got around to filling out a support ticket for this. I sent it to advising since I didn't really know where else to go, and Patricia Certo has already responded.

Quote:Per the printed note on your evaluation: "As the ACE limit note indicates above there is a 45 semester hour
limit for both NCCRS/ACE credit for the Associates degree. Your evaluation indicates that you were 11 SH over this limit. Therefore, credit was excluded from Human Cultures and Electives areas."

If you wish to appeal this further, please send an email to the Registrar's office: registrar@tesu.edu.

So, that is exactly what I have done. I emailed the registrar -- which has resulted in a new ticket being generated. I've asked if this is just a screwup (it makes no sense at all that "ACE" should count as a single source), and if it, can I actually submit a transcript directly from straighter line, remove them from the ACE transcript, and send a new one of those in as well..

Will return with another update as soon as I have one.

I know for certain you can do this. Just contact SL and have them send your info to TESU, they are a partner school and will accept credits directly from SL.

I believe you, but I'd rather keep the SL courses on my ACE transcript and convince TESU to just amend their procedures. I know it's unlikely but I have nothing to lose by trying. It's nonsensical that they will accept however many SL credits off the SL transcript, but treat them differently if they're on an ACE transcript.
