I noticed this also but I did not want to post anything until I could confirm it. The price just keeps going up at TESU. Not getting a Study.com discount on the Residency Fee Waiver sucks. 

If someone is confident in their own ability to finish classes quickly then maybe WGU seems like the better option.

Holy moly, this is such bad news,

With WGU being more and more a competitor, I'm not sure they will actually make more money VS the student they will loose doing this.

Do we know when this will apply? I could possibly pay it now and take my capstone later. Is it too late already?

If I had to guess, these fees will probably be in effect starting July 1st, since that is the beginning of the 2019/2020 calendar year.

I also noticed, although it says the residency waiver is $2800 for Study.com students, the section above on the website still says that Study.com students will receive a 10% discount on the waiver. Maybe a $280 discount could be negotiated with TESU staff over the phone?

Still, this makes me glad that I've already paid all of my fees for graduation. Yikes.

Don't give up - in the end it's still a bargain compared to nearly all schools for a 4 year degree. Just stick the course you've chosen and before long you'll be done. This sort of knowledge is just needed to help people budget out better for the long haul. It is still the lowest UL requirement school, you can remain actively enrolled and lock in your plan (aka catalog) with no fee - other than taking a TECEP for credit  (that you'd need anyway if you plan it right) once a year - and if you're in this for the quickest degree possible then it still remains one of the best bargains out there.   If anything it should motivate you more to get it done (this year and try to avoid next years increases (which is possible).

Ok's so let's say someone has 102 credits already done that transfer to a degree (only need sos-110, capstone and 6 credits via study.com) This is the minimum cost for a TESU degree:

Application Fee 50
Graduation Fee 298
Residency Waiver 2,800
SOS-110 and capstone 3 credits each @379/credit: 2274
One month of Study.com and two exams: 200

Total: 5622 that is the absolute cheapest TESU degree but most people are looking at more than that.

Lets say you spend 100 a course for the rest of the degree 100x 36 equals 3600.

3600 plus 5622 is 9222.

I just got off the phone with TESU's Learner Services Team. The lady told me that the changes will go into effect on July 1st. She confirmed that Study.com students will not get a discount on the residency waiver fee, but they will still get a discount on per credit tuition ($379 per credit). 
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think I can use any financial aid to help pay for the residency waiver fee since it's not considered "tuition" or "courses," right?

You can't use financial aid for the residency wavier and most workplaces offering tuition reimbursement won't pay for it either. Unless you get some sort of scholarship or reimbursement deal that specifically states it will cover fees the answer is usually no.

Someone wanting to use financial aid or employer reimbursement could take advantage of the Flat Rate Tuition Plan.

In fact, that route is now quite a bit cheaper than using the residency waiver and taking alternative credit:
Application Fee 50
Graduation Fee 298
At least 16 credits including SOS-110 and capstone in one term: 3963
One month of Study.com and two exams: 200

Total: $4511

Of course, not everyone wants, or will be able, to take that many TESU courses in one year term.
