Oh dear!   That sounds very frustrating.  What program were you applying to at UMASS?
Hopefully you have a great experience at WGU.

Without trying to take anything away from the original poster's rant, I'd like to point out that UMass Global is not UMass in the same way that Purdue Global is not Purdue.  UMass Global was formed when UMass took over Brandman.  Purdue took over Kaplan and it became Purdue Global.  UMass Online still very much exists and there are a whole pile of online degrees offered from the various UMass campuses that have nothing to do with UMass Global.

UMGC degrees are very hackable.  It's not a bad college to go to, though it's a traditional educational format similar to SNHU.

What do you mean by very hackable ? I’m interested in some details if possible ? You also mentioned it’s a traditional education format , how so?

Let's be careful to differentiate University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) from University of Massachusetts Global (UMass Global).

Both are relatively open to transfer and alt-credit. UMass Global has several subscription-priced CBE programs.

I was referring to UMGC, not UMASS Global. The names are similar. Overall, UMASS is hard to hack. 

The traditional format is each course has deadlines, unlike CBE.

You can transfer 90 credits to UMGC, which is possible for degrees such as computer science or business. The majors often only have 33 credits, and the free electives are over 40 credits. 

There is also a 25% discount on tuition through onlinedegree.com

I was referring to UMGC, not UMASS Global. The names are similar. Overall, UMASS is hard to hack. 

The traditional format is each course has deadlines, unlike CBE.

You can transfer 90 credits to UMGC, which is possible for degrees such as computer science or business. The majors often only have 33 credits, and the free electives are over 40 credits. 

There is also a 25% discount on tuition through onlinedegree.com

Interesting, I would say UMGC and UMASS are pretty much similar in hackability for those who know their system well enough. Both do allow up to 75% transfer into each of their degrees. UMASS Global was Brandman, their main difference with UMPI and is that the ACE requirements are 81.5% on ACE credits vs COSC at 80% or the regular 70% for UMPI and other providers. UMASS Global MAOL was exactly the same as the UMPI MAOL until UMPI changed systems from Strut to Brightspace.

Here's a thread from last year in regards to UMGC, the main two degrees I recommend are similar to the TESU ones I recommend, Bachelors General Studies and the Bachelors Applied Technology as the requirements differ and are much more flexible in these two degrees vs their other counterparts. UMASS is NOT hackable!!! UMass Global is NOT UMASS. UMASS is specifically the campus in Amherst, Massachusetts. UMASS and UMASS Global have absolutely nothing to do with each other. A degree from UMASS Global is NOT a degree from UMASS. This is similar to Purdue and PUG. A degree from PUG is NOT a degree from Purdue and they will tell you that.
