Subject: Business
Semester/Term: Spring 2 - 2025
Instructor: Noah Winslow
Long or Short?: Long (I took one whole term )
Number of Milestone Activities: 13
Type of Milestone Activities: 12 short and medium essay, and 1 quiz
Type of Final Assessment: Comprehensive essay of the milestones and a presentation video.
Notes & Overall Thoughts: Prof. Winslow is a good grader, give nice comment and fast responder. This class is both a theory and real life business practices. If you got business class before then this class will be smooth. If you already have experience in the real business world, the professor like that very much when you put your experience into the essay. I took a long time to finish this class because I didn't get a business class before so the business' terms really bugged me and take me a long time to understand them. On the other hand, the prof do not take the video presentation too hard, don't overcomplicated it, just do the milestones, then summarize them into the finals, then shoot the video, you will get a good grades.
Hello my friend I was curious to know if in this class business 489 you have to use the kultura for any reason when completing any of the milestones. Or can I just use the audio and video in the PowerPoint from Microsoft. If you have taken business 469 and you have insights in the milestones in that class I would greatly appreciate it thank you. Hello,
Sorry for very late reply.
I always use video recorder from my phone and then edited the simple way, never use Kaltura because I'm not familiar with it.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
ishady

Name: SOC 100: Intro to Sociology
Subject: Sociology
Semester/Term: Summer 1
Instructor: Leduc
Long or Short?: Short
Number of Milestone Activities: 4
Type of Milestone Activities: Paper-based assignments and short essays
Type of Final Assessment: 16-page paper covering 5 concepts
Notes & Overall Thoughts: It was an overall easy course with short milestones. The final was very time-consuming!
Name: PSY 341: Drugs and Behavior
Subject: Psychology
Semester/Term: Summer 1
Instructor: Rodefer
Long or Short?: Short
Number of Milestone Activities: 5
Type of Milestone Activities: Short to somewhat lengthy essays and PowerPoint assignments
Type of Final Assessment: 33-page PowerPoint presentation with video or voiceover options.
Notes & Overall Thoughts: This course wasn't bad at all. The instructor was chill, though the assignments were a bit lengthy.
Name: PSY 311: Research Methods I
Subject: Psychology
Semester/Term: Summer 2
Instructor: Jenkins
Long or Short?: Short
Number of Milestone Activities: 4
Type of Milestone Activities: Short essay-based papers
Type of Final Assessment: Short case study essay
Notes & Overall Thoughts: Out of all of the psych courses I've taken at UMPI, this was probably the easiest one. Jenkins is one of my favorite instructors!
Name: PSY 380: Principles of Counseling
Subject: Psychology
Semester/Term: Summer 2
Instructor: Reyes-Fournier
Long or Short?: Long
Number of Milestone Activities: 5
Type of Milestone Activities: Medium to larger-sized papers, and one PowerPoint with voiceover
Type of Final Assessment: Mock interview with a fictitious client with narratives (it was long!)
Notes & Overall Thoughts: This wasn't a bad class; it was quite lengthy, though, as far as assignments went. The instructor is somewhat of a tough grader.
Name: PSY 382: Substance Abuse Counseling
Subject: Psychology
Semester/Term: Summer 2
Instructor: Lavoie
Long or Short?: Long
Number of Milestone Activities: 6
Type of Milestone Activities: Moderate-larger sized papers, and I believe there was possibly one PowerPoint.
Type of Final Assessment: Short 3-page narrative
Notes & Overall Thoughts: This was one of the more difficult classes I've taken at UMPI. The instructor is VERY by the book on APA formatting, and she's a very tough grader (she's not very pleasant to deal with, either.) She will take a very hard look at references pages and deduct points for petty things like properly citing a chapter numbers (she doesn't care much for those, oddly) and minor mistakes with italics and punctuation; very small things that most instructors tend to let slide.

Name: SWK 381: Crisis Intervention
Subject: Social Work
Semester/Term: Fall 1
Instructor: Dr. V. Mitchell
Long or Short?: Long
Number of Milestone Activities: 6
Type of Milestone Activities: Various papers (1500-2500 word count, depending on the Milestone)
Type of Final Assessment: Two Parts: 1) Essay 1500-2500 words describing a crisis situation, and 2) Powerpoint (with voiceover or video option) that outlines the essay material.
Notes & Overall Thoughts: This was one of the more lenghty upper-elective courses I have taken. Just follow the rubric. Dr. Mitchell is a fair grader. I took away a lot of good information from this course!
Name: BUS 200: Intermediate Business Computing
Subject: Business
Semester/Term: Fall 1
Instructor: Michael Dobbs
Long or Short?: Medium
Number of Milestone Activities: 3
Type of Milestone Activities: There were no papers in this class. The milestones are activities to elevate your proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Type of Final Assessment: It was 3 parts -- just more project-based tasks with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. I think this is one of the classes where you save everything from each milestone and turn it in all at once for the FA.
Notes & Overall Thoughts: If you're already familiar with the basics of Microsoft Office, you'll do just fine in this class. I found it to be a breeze. This instructor is not a timely grader, but he is fair and not heavy-handed in his feedback.
Name: PSY 448: Cognitive Psychology
Subject: Psychology
Semester/Term: Fall 1
Instructor: Rodefer
Long or Short?: Long
Number of Milestone Activities: 5
Type of Milestone Activities: Mostly papers and possibly two PowerPoint Presentations
Type of Final Assessment: 10-15 page paper (excluding the cover and reference pages)
Notes & Overall Thoughts: This course was another one that felt quite lengthy! As long as you follow the rubric, you'll be fine. Rodefer is a fair but a bit of a tough grader. I got a lot out of this class!
Name: BUS 352: Business Law II
Subject: Psychology
Semester/Term: Fall 1
Instructor: Reimnitz
Long or Short?: Short
Number of Milestone Activities: 4
Type of Milestone Activities: All short paper-based milestones.
Type of Final Assessment: 3-4 page paper (excluding the cover and reference pages)
Notes & Overall Thoughts: Overall, I felt this was a good class. There is a lot of great information about anti-trust laws, wills/estates, agency law, and real property law. As with many other courses, follow the rubric and you'll do well. The instructor wasn't too fussy of a grader. She gives good feedback and is a timely grader.

Hello,
I am looking for a LL course. I am thinking about HPR-101 Lifelong wellness. I don't see any reviews about it. How many milestones? what kind of milestones? Final assessment, it is a short course, what instructor is teaching it?
Any final tips, thoughts.
Please if anybody had taken this course, post a review.
Thanks
