> Oooh, data analytics.

its only one course
probably using R or python to some some statistics, regression and plot the data

> Ohh. That’s a lot of maths.

I'm an so happy they're requiring Linear Algebra

now if they dropped one of these
Introduction to Computer Science 3
Programming Fundamentals 4
and replace it with Discrete Math then it would be near perfect

Two. Bioinformatics is a branch of data analytics as applied to biological data. It's not the same as "regular" data analytics but it's not all that different either. I would not be surprised if "Management of Agriculture and Natural Resource Data " also had some data analytics as part of the course.

I think it's great that there is going to be a new option, but just remember that these are comp sci courses and not biz admin. Seems to me a LOT more folks will be able to plow through the requisite BA path in a couple of terms versus the CS path.

Still, even if it DOES take twice the number of terms to complete you're WAY under $10k.
College (146): RA (134), NA (12)
ACE-recommended (105): Sophia (53), Study (28), Google (12), TEEX (10), Institutes (2)
ECTS (69): ENEB (65), LUT (2), XAMK (2)
IN PROGRESS:

Certificate- Google Data Analytics
Bachelor- Cybersecurity Technology (105/120) /
 Organizational Leadership (99/120)
Certification- CompTIA A+
DONE:
Certificate- Google IT Support

Associates- Business Administration /  BoG (History)
Undergrad certificate- Computer Networking
MBA

Exactly how I feel. I don't want the computer science engineers working for my company to not have an understanding of how software actually works! I feel a lot of people are racing this degree just to get a good job and then just hop around place to place.

As a business manager, we ASK for githubs, etc,and ask technical questions and on the spot questions which will quickly weed those without an understanding out.

but Data Analytics is only one course in the Information and Data Management Concentration

sure there are other courses in that concentration that might use data analytics, but my point was there is only one "data analytics" course
its not like "data analytics" is the name of the concentration

I found the descriptions for the courses here

http://catalog.umpi.edu/preview_program....nto=search

and they do require discrete math Smile

Its misconception that if u get University degree u actually know the subject. Not the case. Many students get out of Universities with comsci degrees and have minimal amount of knowledge. In some cases even less........
