Are all the uexcel tests accepted by TESC? Their website doesn't say much and I haven't' found much on the forum. Testing for uexcel through pearson vue would be easier for me based on where I live. I'm only about 5 min away.

They are! Most of the UExcel (UExcel ECEP) tests are "ECE" tests. Over the summer, Excelsior merged and renamed their two course credit by exam programs: ECE and UExcel together became UExcel ECEP. UExcel had been a joint venture with Pearson and was focused entirely on lower-level exams. ECE was more Excelsior's in-house project, with some exams with LL and some with UL credits.

I'll have to look into it more then. The cost looks a little higher but time is money, and with the price of gas it's probably even steven.

Many of the UExcel ECEPs are just $95, and this in some cases for UL credit. Also, UExcels should involve no additional proctoring fee at the local exam center; this is built in to the price. At least as a general rule, the more expensive UExcels have 3-hour test windows (e.g. Foundations of Gerontology, $325); the less expensive ones have 2-hour windows (e.g. Psychology of Adulthood and Aging, $95).

I'm going through this with my son so wanted to update this. The exam costs ($95 for most-but some are MUCH more) on the UExcel page are what EC charges. Once you register, you get the whammy page which let's you know that as of July 2014, there is now a mandatory $50 proctoring fee for 3 credit exams that must be paid to Pearson Vue upon scheduling; surprise! Of course you don't see that until after you've paid your $95. Not a happy mom btw, but am going forward since he's prepared. I'll also end up shelling out another $25 for the practice exam. Probably won't use UExcel after this; 3 lower level credits is going to cost me $170 plus supplies. At $56/credit, this is not one of the better deals. (if it were upper level that would be a different story, and probably more valuable)

I was going to say the same thing about the listed fees, although it does increase the price the question as to if its really worth it remains, higher level credit is always nice particularly when it comes as a letter grade in this format.
Don't forget that gaining college credit by taking exams is one of the reason's we're here. That's mainly possible through the flashcards made available by the owner of this forum : InstantCert Plus of course your hard work in learning and reviewing

One of the few pluses though is that you could use Saylor to prepare for quite a number of their exams. Also they have a handful of exams which are not available as CLEPs/DSSTs. Other than that... you pay a bomb. XD

Although still a lot cheaper than an in-house course in the same subject at $1200 or more depending on your price plan.
Don't forget that gaining college credit by taking exams is one of the reason's we're here. That's mainly possible through the flashcards made available by the owner of this forum : InstantCert Plus of course your hard work in learning and reviewing
